My god..that can give you nightmares...
:eek::eek:

This is why I said to Alex that he needs to do a risk assessment especially if his family or spectators are around.

If this was an organised event, and health and safety investigated, then I would think that some one would be convicted for manslaughter, or neglect either way someone could be going to prison, and two people are going to their own funeral.

Very graphic, you have been warned.

Stupid angle to be trying a kinetic recovery in the first place :eek:
That should defo have been a controlled winch job and probably in two stages.
That was a recovery point that failed too, not the strop.
So again DO NOT USE your tow ball. DO check your recovery points are connected to good quality steel chassis sections. That particular recovery should have had a bridle to both legs of the chassis and then to the recovery strop. Each shackle should be load tested types and not cheap fleabay ones.

awful, all those spectators should have been moved away too, so many people around such a difficult and dangerous manoeuvre was asking for trouble.

This is the reason I won't do any recovery if anyone is in the area a broken strop etc could fly around. Like a lot having a tow bar on the back of the Terrano you loose the 2 rear recovery points:doh so wrap the strop around the big cross bar on the tow bar & shackle it together

I have first hand witnessed this happening (luckily no one was injured)
but it scared the hell out of me

That's awful. I drive for a vehicle recovery firm here in Norwich and was told about that clip by another driver who's into off roading. Hope to never see anything like it again.... :-(

No one appeared to assist them though, just standing around looking.

I second makitfit's reply, absolute mumpties, winch every time, slow and controlled, and yes spectators far too close, it was an accident waiting to happen, Rick

Damn what a horrid video! It was pretty damn extreme though, not the average day to day winching... :doh

Slow and steady i guess

the error there was snatching, I have said many times, snatching only breaks equipment, seldom does it result in a successful recovery, if using proper kinetic rope then this is a different style altogether, I see snatching regular at the sites I go to and I immediately warn the bystanders that it is very dangerous, fortunately have only seen broken windscreens or rear windows so far, and offer a winch when their recovery fails, Rick
