a place for rust

If you go under you're terrano or maverick and look at where the biggest exhaust box is, their is a metal heat shield bolted behind it to the floor pan, well this thing as a Bastard as it will hide the start of floor pan rust, theirs about 6x 10mm bolts under the carpet for removal, since I binned my carpets and my exhaust is off I just removed the gay shield, theirs a seam it hides where 2 bits of metal are seam or spot welded acros each other, mine had only started to rust, hardly anything but some terrano and mav could be quite bad

Good tip Ryan, but there are plenty of places on these trucks that will hide the dreaded, at least you caught it early :thumbs

There's another one which has almost written mine off,

look under the carpet under the back seats, there are mounting points where the cab mounts to the chassis, these mounts had rotted overnight due to muck being thrown up by the wheels . This area if you look underneath is just forward of the rear wheel arches so very difficult to spot.:doh

After much 8mm steel sheet and £300 quid later, my local coachworks cut out and remanufactured these mounts.
Have a look where the rear seat belts mount to the wheel arch - yep .... gone here too
