A bit smokey on cold start up!!!!

Can anyone give me some advice on the possible cause of blue smoke on cold start up, this only lasts a few seconds and then clears, truck runs very well. 1996 2.7 TD Terrano 2. I heard that this could be the turbo, which could be costly!!!

Moved from general to mechanical.

First check your glow plugs to see if they are working properly.
Often cold start and smoke = glow plugs not warming properly.

Go to the Download section and the work shop section. :wink:

Many thanks I will check the glow plugs using the download, lets hope its this that is causing the problem, not a very expensive fix if it is.

also you could check your breater pipe it may be block/clog with dirt
