This year we have a couple of longer European trips planned, and while the Terrano is great at most things, it's not the best autobahn stormer out there and now having use of a fully fuelled company van as well, I think the time has come to say goodbye to the Terrano :(

What I need to know now is how much to ask? I'm not greedy but obviously want a fair price:

54 plate 2.7 Tdi 5 door LWB 182k miles. MOT 20/01/2016 with advisory of corrosion on front exhaust section. I've bought the exhaust section and gaskets but not fitted yet.

I looked at lots of nasty Terranos before settling on this one as it seems almost completely rust free! The original sales invoice shows £199 for Supaguard which I think may have been a rust protection treatment? I'm the second owner and from the service history it appears that it spent at least the first 5 years in Spain.

Paintwork is mostly very good apart from several areas on the plastic trim where the paint has flaked to reveal the primer below. Interior is again mostly good but showing a few signs of wear on the fabric of the drivers seat. One dent in the right hand rear quarter panel about 50mm diameter.

In the last 12 months:

Reconditioned gearbox
New clutch and release bearing
New spigot bearing
Torsion bars re-indexed
New transmission fluids
New anti roll bar drop links (left and right)
Track rod ends (left and right)
New rear diff fluid
New front left top and bottom ball joints
Engine oil & filter change
Fuel filter change

In spite of the mileage, she uses no oil or water, starts on the button and pulls like a train :)

Loads of receipts and all the original books. Two sets of wheels - one set of 5 17" alloys with 2 good tyres and 2 worn tyres plus the only just legal spare, and one set of 4 16" alloys with 4 good ML698 A/T tyres.

I'm thinking about £2500 but please feel free to put me right on this, I really can't be offended. Thanks for reading.

Ian.

Oh, and the sidesteps and 3rd row of seats are removed but available...

Vey honest description, I hope you get close to what you are looking for. I suspect this will be an eBay job though :thumb2

Some pics can always help if you have em :thumbs

I'm thinking eBay is the way but didn't want to over /under price it, so looking to gauge opinion.

By the way Alex, I love reading about your mods and exploits please keep em coming :thumb2

Rust free terrano= priceless seriously though if its rust free £2500 sounds cheap

Cheers thank you sir! :D

If it helps you my terrano was advertised (from a stealer) at 3400 quid, it's a 2004 and did have 100k miles on the clock, and a good scratch on the wing :thumb2

EDIT - oh and it was completely rust free, engine looked like a show engine too.

Hmm, thanks both. Maybe 2.5 seems about the right starting point then with a bit of room for haggling. I don't want to rip anyone off - it's been done to me and it's not a nice feeling.

Seems a reasonable price. :thumb2

as we all know, 182k miles on these isn't exactly HIGH mileage, and considering the list of jobs done on the Terrano wear and tear seems to have been dealt with. 2.5k does sound cheap if it really is rust free, the RIGHT buyer will give you that no problem. I paid £1500 for my 03 plate but with various faults and problems I knew about, I thought that was a good buy so your £2.5k is very reasonable.

Forgot new front discs and pads, rear shoes and front prop uj's as well lol

I bought a rust free car that needed lots of jobs but all done now. If I find a job that needs doing I have to get it sorted - I'm not good at polishing them but I do like them to behave properly.

a bit off subject but 182k miles has made my day my terrano has done 83k miles good luck ogri and sorry to see you go mate :thumbs

I can vouch for this truck having seen it outside my house

It's a seriously clean truck that Ian has looked after and spent a lot of time and money on.

If I was in the market for one I'd be snapping this up :thumbs

Sorry to hear that you are selling up Ian :(

I've just renewed my membership here so I won't be going too far away ;-) and I may well visit the land of Terranos again one day as I really like the "fixability" of them but for now I think I need a Merc or similar.

If I may make another suggestion, I would get a list of all the work done to your truck with guesstimation dates and list in order, prices too if you can, it would add value to the truck and show high maintenance:thumb2

Also people love reading a mod/work list

Just thinking of makeitfit's black pearl list *droollll* :D
