id be 99% its the CKP. I bet from cold, its probably alright? then, when warmed up, it randomly stalls?
£190 ish will get you a nice new sensor and you wont have to worry about it agian. Buy a used one, and you will potentially get the same issue as these are just magnets and magnets like those dont last forever...id buy new if you intend to keep the car a while.
My car only stalls when taking off from a dead stop. So far it has never stalled when slowing down to a stop. Is this symptomatic of a faulty crank position sensor or would the symptoms be different if this sensor was faulty?
One thing I should have added is that in some instances after stalling, the ECU gave the following error code: 1 8 - Fuel quantity adjuster / position sensor malfunction
Thats the code i had with the same symptoms with my 02. ended up with new diesel pump.the previous owner ran it on used veg oil engine oil which i didnt know till pump was removed.the rotary was all cacked up so when throttle let off wasnt distributing fuel correctly.if i sat stationary and revved to 4k let foot off as it came down it stalled.
The mechanic confirmed that my injectors are Zexel. I have kept an eye out to see whether the stalling of the car happens more when its cold or watm, but there's no difference really. the guys at the garage told me it could be some electrical component within the pump (electrical governor?). Is there any way in which I can confirm whether this is the problem or whether it could be something else like the Crank Position sensor, No. 1 lift sensor, etc?
