My mav runs and pulls very well round the town but sat night was the first time we had let it out of burton down the A38, But it just didnt seem to pull at all after 75-80 mph.

otherwise runs and oulls like a train and no management light is on

Strange:confused:you might have a mini filter fitted to your which is blocked if you do have one it'll be built into the banjo bolt itself & not in the pump like the earlier ones after that it could poss be the MAF unit is on it's last legs:augie

Well the MAF unit seems an obvious one so got a family member with a hand held comp so we are gonna take it for a run to see what figures come up and I am gonna sling a new airfilter in her too I reckon

um pass. look, at the download, and the engin see if it matches up..

TD = no MAF , entirely mechanical fuelling. May have a mini filter in the banjo.

TDi = MAF Drive-by-wire fuelling. More likely to have mini filter.

Both should be able to pass 75 quite happily on the usualy hugely optimistic speedo... (mine is 9mph fast!)

Other way around

TD's nearly all have the mini filter only its not actually pressed into the banjo bolt just loose.

Some TDis have a mini filter pressed into the inside of the banjo bolt, some don't , no ones come up with a way of working it out yet.

Nissan themselves seem oblivious to them at all so they're no help.

Poor Acceleration & Engine Management Light

Similarly my '98 2.7TDi will not pull past 3000rpm and then the engine management light comes on. When I back off it goes out. Starts Ok and runs smooth up to 3k but will not pull like it used to.

Had MAff replaced shortly aftet I got her (6 years) and has alwats pulled really strongly.

Could this be the MAFF again or something more serious? Never had the mini filter out before - could it be this?

Cheers, Kev

MAF, mini filter (if it has one), porous fuel lines sucking in air. These sem to be the three most common problems on these trucks. Porous lines tends to cause white smoke btw.

Timbo TDI more likely NOT to have mini filter.

My money is on the MAF. unplug it and see if there is a difference, no change or little change its goosed.

When my MAF died I could get more than 60mph, slowed right down going up hills

Mine flies- 100mph easily? Maybe I have a super truck.

you all reckon the best way would be tp take bolt out and have a look then??

and would I have to bleed the system again etc???
