Last night I put the maverick into 4wd to test it out as I only recently got her and everything went fine until I turned full lock left, trying to get back into my drive, and couldn't drive forward. Steering was very heavy too. I reversed off and she moved right turn ok so I disengaged 4wd and put her to bed for the night. Obviously a problem but what?
She drives fine in 2wd by the way except for a vibrating propshaft and noisy steering stops, oh and of course overheating on a long run! (finding something new everyday!! :doh)

Were you on grass/gravell or tarmac Nick?

:doh You do know there is no center diff on the Terrano don't you :augie

Putting it on full lock on the Tarmac was causing a huge drive train wind up, only use 4wd off road or on snow/ice :thumb2

yup, thats what it is! if you use 4wd on tarmac the transmision will wind up. 4wd for slipepry surfaces, then when you hit tarmac, put back into 2wd and at some point reverse the car a meter or so to knock it out of 4wd

Check the downloads section within "Quick Links" at the top right of the page. You'll find 4wd instructions on there, often after not being used or mis use the auto locking hubs can cause problems and there's hundreds of threads on here regarding those.
As for the steering stops, blob grease on all four of them and it'll be fine.

Over heating? one of these? check the viscus fan cuts in and out and also not a bad idea to change thermostat because it's easy to change and quite cheap.

Just to say.........You may not think the Grease trick will work, Mine sounded like something was going to fall off and i stopped driving it with any one in it. 4 Blobs of grease later after posting my problems on here and she was sorted. Now drives sweet as a nut on full lock to lock.
