4wd light on only in 2wd

Hi, I've had issues with the 4wd system but its now sorted , however, there is still one problem remaining. since my father in law has had the terrano2 the 4wd light is on in 2wd and goes out in 4wd. the thing is working back to front. any fixs' please.:nenau cheers, Simon

The only thing that i can think of is the switch that activates the lamp is 3 pole and the feed is being taken from the wrong pole, it should be in the wiring diagram but i cannot find it, maybe someone has seen the actual switch can help?

found the switch, and it`s only a simple on /off affair
el section page 81 of the manual, other than that all i can sugest is a mechanical problem of the switch or activation of it. Strip it and see.
there are a few links to the manual on here, best bet is to download it and save a copy.

I have a T2 box out on the ground and looking round it I can see 5 switches on this lump so, 1 reversing light, 2 four wheel drive, 3 ?? 4 ?? 5 ?? any ideas, I cannot make sense of the diagrams, Rick

If you post the wire colours on here i will do a trace for you later on at work.
Couple of things though, according to the diagram there is only 1 fwd switch, so what the others are i have no idea, but give me the wire colours and we should be sweet.

In the manual I can see 4 switches on the gearbox / transfer box together:-
Reversing light switch - on the gearbox
Neutral switch - on the gearbox
4WD switch - transfer box
Another neutral switch - transfer box

Not sure what number five is ??

Had another look at the book - if you look in the Manual transmission section page MT-6 there is a check for the 4WD and Neutral switches using a meter and there is a note
"*: Ensure both sides of 4WD 2-pole double-throw switch is operational, refer to “Warning lamps” wiring diagram in EL-Section."

Page EL-91 shows the RHD 4WD switch. If the switch is double throw then, in theory I guess yes it could be functioning the wrong way round, but the connector shows as only being two pin ? You really need to check the switch to the diagrams and ensure the right wiring is connected to the right switch (may have neutral and 4WD crossed ????)

The neutral switches might sound odd, in a manual but might be of interest
that in my troll, there was a heat switch was like a manual throttle.

it only operated in main box neutral, and movement of gearstick knocked
the function off. dont know if any terranos in our markets have such a
heat function but guess could be there for other countries.
