It's been two days now since Mav handed me the keys to the castle and what a steep learning curve it has been, Lucy thinks I have left her... she's been a diamond really, either that or she is enjoying the peace and quiet without me getting in her way

I've been working hard behind the scenes to enable the move away from the software that runs this site, this phpBB is very clunky and is a right pain to work with doing all the behind the scenes work, so the move will make life so much easier.

After many hours of trial and error attempts I have managed to get all the data to migrate in to ***this***

Log on and have a look, unfortunately I could not import your avatars but on the plus side all your post counts are retained

It is only a trial at the moment and providing there are no major problems, I intent to migrate ALL the live data from the club site to the new software one night over the Christmas period.

The smilies don't work on there but I can fix that when we go live.

Let me know if you find any other problems.

-cheers-

No problems with the questions, it's feed back that I need to make sure I get it right.

The new site is just a test bed, it will be deleted before I migrate ALL the data from here one evening

So any posts that anyone makes over there in the mean time will not be carried over when we go live..... I hope that makes sense :?

see told you youd get some good stuff back.

is there a price for finding the bad bits??

Looking good Bat, looks very similar to what we have now, colour wise any way, so we should all be at ease.

Will it have a recent topics section at the top as we have at the mo?

like all things will need getting use to i remember the old web pages before the ones we have had for ages.
after getting use to finding your way around you wont worry about the old version.

apart from that i quite like it as it has a modern look about it but retaining some of the older qualities.

is it easier to manage from an admin point of view?

Sort of, there is a New Posts button in the top center, just click that and you will be presented with all new posts since your last visit.

With the current free software that we are running on, I'm not confident of it's reliability OR security.

It looks similar to my other site because they are both driven by vBulletin which, while not free, is one of the best forums packages available.

Yes, very much so. What we are using at the moment is not only very clunky, it is also very basic as far as administration goes.

Yes, once we have moved over and everything is running fine I will build some optional colour schemes to choose from.
