hello everyone i have a problem with my 1996 Terrano. When engaged in 4 wheel drive my vehicle drives great until i need to turn on a full lock - the back wheels feel like the breaks have come on and feel like they are 'churning'! Any ideas what may be the problem?????

Sounds like transmition wind up to me  are you using 4WD on tarmac :?: as this is a no no for these trucks & lot of other 4x4's which don't have a centre diff

Yep I agree Sweety. Your wheels need to be able to spin to release any tension or wind up that has built up.

sounds like you are trying to drive in 4wd whilst on tarmac. if you are, stop, you will sevearly damage your transmission. if its happening whilst on wet grass/mud then its damaged already. :(

Thanx for replying, as i did not know this! I will try again on grass next time. Will let you know

bear in mind though if you are new to 4x4 driving you car will feel different in 4x4 particularly on full lock steering!

it migh t just be you getting a feel for it, but as everyone else has said too much use when its on hard stuff wont do it a lot of good!
