Any one any ideas.
in 4wd and on full lock it feels like its bogging down or like driving through deep shingle if that makes sense. seems fine in a straght line.

Sounds like "Wind-Up" ... Change the rear diff oil ... you will need 3 litres of Limited Slip Differential Oil - specification is API GL-5 ( 80W-90 ).

Matt.

hi mate have had all my olis changed recently and all are correct grades. any other ideas.

Sounds more like some sort of bush problem:augie Could be the steering link ball joints as when in 4wd things get pulled about a lot.
Best have a heave and a pull on your balls mate:lol

sounds a stupid question but:

are you used to driving in 4wd as it does feel very different especialy cornering and full lock? could it just be that?

had to really rev just to get it to move very different to usual ab bit grawnchy as well (if thats a word) if i was off road i would think a brick was wedged in somewhere.

don't worry steve, mines the same when i put the caravan away, i use low range, i find it easier to manouver in low, and it does feel weird mate, so dont worry, be happy you wont notice it in the snow. :thumb2:lol

i would suggest having a look at the hubs maybe a broken break ring crunchin in there sone where?

bu otherwis do you live near enough to another member who could give it a try to see if it seems normal?

Err are you driving on a hard surface when this happens? Your not supposed to drive T2's on a hard surface in 4WD. The wheels need to be able to give a little every now and then to release any wind up.

Thanks for the help guys sounds like could be normal or a worst something in the hubs was just worried might be the front diff.

i doubt its the dif, hubs are a moderatley common issue at worst you can swap them for manuals for around £150

but it does seem to me that all is ok and just needs a bit of getting used too, there is a download on servicing and cealeing the auto hubs (or there was) might be worth a look at this, and another on changing to manuals, if the worst comes to the worst.

Whats the difference between auto and manual ? how do they work

the basic difference as you will notce fomr operating them, is that you have to ge tout and switch the manuals before you get 4x4, the benefit is a very positive 4x4 and an economical replacment of broken hubs

you can repair the autos with a set of brake rings, loads of threads on this here, but! make sure they are in generly good order first or you could, and this is only my opinion and they do vary, be wasteing your money on the brake rings (often refered to as snap rings)

willow "serviced" her hubs, but they were so far gon had to change to manuals in the end.

download is in the download section

my thoughts exactly it was myself and the founder member shark1e who did the manual conversion and hub service downlads i think, and my money is on changing to manuals, assuming of course the autos are at fault if not then keep them!

id go that way if needed. just need to jump out to engage.
when the gear lever is in 2wd just means the front axle ect it turning. but i think the later ones were all fixed hubs

Do man hubs affect the 4wd lo gears how would the hi lo lever work? sorry if i seem a bit dim with this but this is me first 4wd so still learning
