Guys, just become owner of an 03/ 26kmiles from new!!
I noticed that when in 4 whl drive and try to drive in full lock car is reluctant to move unless you ease off on the wheel to give a wider turning circle - is this normal??
Again a problem with the clutch pedal odesnt come fully up some times - there seems to be about 2 inchess free play andsometimes have to put foot under to give light pressure and it springs up - anyone found this - does it indicate any surprises I am going to get!!

Also, when I got it from dealer the temp gauge showed just on the red quadrant - heater was ok. Took car back and ended up with a rad change as there was a blockage in the bottom of the old rad. Now I have luke warm interior heating but temp gauge sits rock steady in the centre.

Reason for queries is that it is still under warrenty but had to fight hard about the cooling issue and dont want to get 'rolled over' by the dealer.

Swapped my Jag in for this beastie - apart from above..........best thing Ive done......live in highlands Scotland and its coped with everything slung at it so far in 2009 (-16 3ft snow etc)....now becoming a fan

Any help greatfully received
Paul:clap

Hi and welcome aboard.

In 4wd they tend to be a bit that way but you are aware that your not supposed to run in 4wd on a hard surface aren't you. They only really meant to be in 4wd on slippery surfaces to allow any tension or windup to release through wheel slip.
Check your pollen filter as they get blocked and reduce air flow in to the cabin, look in the quick links at the download section as there is a workshop on changing the pollen filter. The 2.7's tend to run cool so I changed my stat to an 88 degree instead of the standard 82 degree, this has made car much warmer. Not too sure if this would be the same on the 3litre engine but you'll still have the same pollen filter.
Try some WD40 on the clutch pedal mechanism, not had that happen my self but it sounds like a good start.

hi had same problem with clutch pedal not coming back up
its a tight space but just blow pedal you should feel nut and two bolts
you will find they loosen off so get pedal up were it should be
then adjust nut and bolts hard to explain but you will feel it
had to do this a number of times once you do it its easy next
time if it happens again

Had the same prob myself with clutch pedal. It WAS THE LAST OWNER, BIG RORMING NORMAN, HE HAD BENT THE PEDAL :doh AND IT WAS RUBBING ON THE STEERING COLUM, SO BENT IT BACK, WAS OK THEN, COULD BE WORTH A LOOK :thumbs

Hi and welcome.

Re the clutch pedel I had the exact same problem with a 2005 T2, with 28k on it.

The dealer under warrenty....

Changed the spring - no difference
Tried to adjust the clutch - just made it slip

In the end up they told me 'it should be like that' .... b*llshit I thought so took it to Nissan for a second opinion. In the end up they replaced the pedal assembly and the problem was solved!

If its under warrenty get it fixed... to be honest I got used to knocking it up with my toe, but they should put it right for you.

Also with the stiff in 4WD I would search on the forum for changing the rear LSD oils, and check with the garage if thats been done - and with the right type of oil!!!! If not would be worth doin it yourself :thumbs

ps... how happy were you in the recent snow??? ha ha

I Dont have the 3ltr so cant help you, where are you in gods country ?, was up in Inverness 3 times last week in wagon !, great weather for a 4x4 !, not an artic LOL

Big thanx

Thanks for taking the time out to answer my queries - feel a bit more confident that I hav'nt bought a 'pup'

I'll double check the clutch pedal mechanical arrangement and see if I have interferance -regard the 4 wheel drive, I have ben running in 4 wheel since the snow came - i guess this is ok but should i be dissengaging 4 wheel when i get to main roads where ther is no snow??

Had dealer change the radiator as the temp gauge was running just under HOT mark and sure enough the rad was not cooling it - had a good heater temperature before the rad was changed but now it is only luke warm although the metal pipes that pass thru the bulkhead to the matrix are hot - is it possible I have an air lock in matrix and any hint on how to bleed as we all have to get our winter woolies on to go out in it.
The rad change fixed the overtemp and the needle sits rock solid midway and will rise to this temp in about 4 miles - but no heat. Have changed the pollen filter for new one but my ongoing problem is that the mechies at the garage I bought this from admit that they are baffled as this is the first Terrano they have seen......it took a lot of push to get the rad changed so I am eliminating things myself so that I have a good idea of what to ak them to do.

Anyway...I ramble......with all this snow arriving and living 35 miles from work and heavy snow this is just a joy to drive as it takes it all in its stride.......

Thanks again for all the input its great to join a forrum where folk actually reply!!!
Regds to all

have you checked the thermostat .to make sure it operating properly and opening and closing tidy

With such a low mileage vehicle you'll find a lot of things should ease up after a bit of abuse and use. A few hundred hard motorway miles usually cures that I've found!

As advised, check the stat as temp should be around the halfway mark normally. If that fails, as you say could be an air lock, so massage the pipes while the engine is running and see where that gets you.

Also check the water level in the rad itself - its not always enough to just check the expansion tank level and you may find water level low in the rad (the rad cap sometimes malfunctions causing expansion water to vent to atmosphere while you are driving, which isn't then replaced by the expansion tank).

As for 4WD, yes its not good practice to use it on tarmac unless its pouring with rain at the very least. I've never actually heard of anyone breaking anything as a result - these trucks are pretty bomb-proof - but it will cause extra wear on tyres especially as they will be scrubbing a lot in tight turns (which as you have found take more effort generally with 4WD engaged).

Finally, can you help with my survey? :)

I've found one already but wondering if you have auto hubs or fully locked on your truck? On the 2.7TDi the hubs are auto, which mean you can only engage 4WD at rest or low speed - to remove from 4WD you have to push the lever forward again, then reverse for 3-4 metres to make the 4WD light go out.

If you have fixed hubs (which are permanently engaged and rotating) you just move the lever and carry on as normal, no reversing required.

Which instructions have you got?

Here are the instructions on the sun visor of my Auto 3.0 Tdi:

So does this mean we were both right about hubs? if so I'll make do with half a months pay packet :lol

Jim T

Its a draw Jim, thats my best offer! LOL. I was only definite about the 2.7 TDi after all, the 3.0 was just a deduction on my part and I'm still interested to know what model they pinched the hubs from - if we can find a 2.7 with fixed hubs I WILL eat humble pie for tea! :bow
