Has anyone had any problems with this engine ,looking at a 52 plate model tomorrow.Thanks.JD

3.0 ltr T2

I've had a 3.0ltr with no problems sound motor just likes the fuel a bit.

belive there were isues early on in the fitting of the 3 litre in the patrol, pistons
prone to melting dont know how or if effected t2 fitments. think that was back on
about x reg though.

This was on the engine that was used in the early Patrol's i think.

No , it's on the ZD30 engine up to and including 2002 . There is lots on it on the Aussie patrol forum , but I don't know if the T2 uses it in the same form .
Not noticed many UK complaints but we have a relatively small number of Patrols .

Was about to aks same question. Just looked at a 04 reg 3.0tdi, just gotta get the dealer to check he can do £2k trade in on mine.
Are they as reliable as the 2.7?

I have checked on this 3.0 di engine, The fault of blowing a hole in No 3 and 4 piston was on the Patrols 3.0 's only. Alot of this issue was aspirated to mods to egr's and turbo boost etc.
The Problem has not been seen on the Terrano's 3.0.
As with Ian, I had the same High pressure oil switch fault, this was a bad batch of oil pressure switches fabbed up in Mexico.

Dead easy to sort. done 10k miles no probs.
I'm chuffed to bit with mine, especially with my new alloys.

Cheers Jim, the alloys are from the new Hilux Pickup.
My Nissan wheel centres fitted spot on.
Drives better, firmer on bends.

Back to the thread, an ex member called Cadmonkey used to tell me that his 3 litre gave better MPG.

Good Luck with it Dinky

The 3.0 di on the TII is 154bhp, loads of low revs torque. ( can be re-mapped to 210 bhp)
Leaves my mates 3.0 trooper for dust
Got my SVE 6 months ago, Full service history, 50K miles.
Full cream leather, 7 st
Witter tow bar/ twin electrics,
Thule roof box,
Box of caravan bits,
Even simoniz polish £3.2k
Best bargain I've ever bought. they even gave me lunch on pick up.
They bought it for towing a van, had a tow bar fitted, didn't like towing on 1st outing, bought a motorhome, and I bought the Terrano.
I could have made £4.5k on ebay, But I love it.

oh and yes it is a Minstral A bar, got it from a guy thats sell fresh import Mistrals in Durham,

I've allways been told Mistral A Bars wouldn't fit T2's because of the bumper shape and having to cut chunks out of it to fit. Nice one.
