Just to throw another clutch based page on the forums to annoy people!!!!

Has any one had any experience with the uprated clutches available?
DriveTorque Stage 1 Clutch - DriveTorque Stage 2 Clutch - DriveTorque Stage 3 Clutch

The Stage 3 looks to utilize Sintered metallic clutch plates which are lovely. We use them on race car so know the benefits etc but curious to know if anyones tried any of them.
Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good make which they know from use are good for the Terrano?
We tow our racecar in a 22ft box trailer which can go upwards of 2 ton at times with fuel etc :augie so need a good quality clutch fitted to tow.

Must say I enjoyed reading peoples posts about clutch changing on the forums.
I'm dreading a clutch replacement on our 3.0! Did 2 on our old 2.7 in the 15 years we had it and after the first one and all the hassle of dropping the front suspension etc and resetting of it all after we took the box and engine out the second time and did it over 2 days taking it real easy. No hassle! Labeled all the wires etc, popped the rad and front grill out and out it comes through the grill hole (engine and gearbox). Easy to fit the new clutch, and check a few bits while you can easily get to them. Found some areas on the bulkhead, inner wings and chassis to treat and paint before refitting it all! Hardest part is disconnecting everything in the first place.

i personally wouldn't go with the stage 3 paddle type clutch for a work horse! i know there good for performance cars my impreza has one but its a pig in traffic:lol all or nothing

Torsion bars and gearbox out!!!

Borg & Beck will do just fine, mine bites like a beast now :naughty

Just my two pennyworth I do loads of towing, with a standard clutch with a vehicle that has done 122k and gross weight is over 4.5 tonnes, went on the weigh bridge only last week, as for gearbox or engine, yes I favor engine mainly cos it is less work under the motor and as it is suspended on a crane there is much less chance of damage to the center plate, but if you have a hoist and a proper gearbox cradle on a smooth floor then I might go box out, Rick

I'm with rick engine out for me as I'm about to do just that. Can't be doing with on the floor business with heavy wieghts

I actually prefer Ricks other method of getting under the truck. Just a simple, careful slow non damaging roll onto the trucks side and there you are gearbox beautifully positioned and all at the most convenient of heights for working at. :):)
