Finally tracked a decent price condenser and hopefully found a source for an adaptor pipe to connect 2.7 condenser to the 3.0 system - vertical to horizontal. :clap

Removed the two pipe connectors from the condenser - corrode required lots of tapping and gentle persuasion - just about to remove the condenser when I noticed the bar holding the bonnet catch :doh

Do I have to remove the radiator etc. or am I missing something.

Anybody managed to fit a 2.7 condenser into a 3.0?

Happy Afternoon

OK, just spent my afternoon off removing the radiator etc, discovered you can not remove the condenser that way :eek:

The car is now back together, good part is the coolant has now been replaced, bad thing the condenser is still in car.

My next attack will be to remove the front bumper in its entirety hoping the condenser will slide out to the passenger side. Do I have to remove the headlights  :nenau

Good news - I found these nice people:

MK Air conditioning Services Ltd

The Arches.
Old Mill Street.
Stoke on Trent.
Staffordshire.
ST4 2RP

Talked with a chap called Martin (Martin:07436 274384), very knowledgeable :bow. He has sourced a different pipe (the one with the service valve on) which allows you to fit the 2.7 con - vertical outlet - rather than the 3.0 con - horizontal outlet. This means you can fit the cheaper con :clap:clap The price is a bit steep but still cheaper to buy a 2.7 con and pipe rather than a 3.0 con. :clap The other good thing is I have to replace that pipe anyway as the numpty who fitted it cross threaded the fittings :doh

Bet the person who fitted it didn't cross thread it as its both alloy and being in line of salt and water spray they have corrored together and when undoing it strips then I should no as it did it on mine:eek: how much for this pipe

No it was cross threaded, I have been a Navy Air Engineer for 40 Years (32 years RN, 8 Years a civvy) and deal almost exclusively with alloy material the other threads are OK. Not wanting to teach granny to suck eggs, If you tap the union lightly all the way round and apply lubricant to the thread you can break the corrosion and hopefully allow capillary action to pull the lubricant into the joint. It took me 20 mins to release both unions :(. I will post picks as soon as I can carry on with the job. Just finished work and intend to get outside of a selection fine ales and a couple of glasses of Malt :clap:clap (Speyside not Islay).

Misses is talking about visiting the big City of Truro tomorrow so will probably have to wait until Sunday>

its is a very common on the 2.7tdi so i would say same on the 3l i managed to get the threads pick out on the pipe union but that was because the treads on the condensor was not there anymore not crossed threaded in may case was orignal condensor and did tap union all the way well as much as i could with penerating oil maybe not enough but how much was the pipe as nissan wanted £89 +vat for the 2.7tdi pipe and on the 2.7 condensor came out through the front with no need to remove lights just ac fan bottom bolt on the brace bar which the fan bolts to and the bumper did mine in less than 1 hr:thumb2
