That's a good read:thumb2 it's got me thinking about trying it out:augie

Ditto on that. Might pick myself up a bottle.

Next question is, does it matter which two stroke oil? Cheap and cheerful?

larson that is the exact post on the patrol4x4 forum that started me on using 2 stroke :D

Alex use mineral 2 stroke, synthetic isn't as good/won't provide the same benefits. Mineral is also cheaper :thumbs

As a couple of you's are using the 2 stroke oil has it made any difference to your motors are they any quieter, better MPG etc ?
From reading it all I like the idea of 2 stroke oil cleaning out the carbon & cleaning the tips of the injectors & glow plugs

2T oil in fuel

helli I read on another fourm some one was mixing 2stroke in with there diesel 1 parts oil to 150 fuel, it didn't say why he was doing it tho? just wondering if anyone knows what the reason for him doing this was? are there any advantages?

I use 2T oil (usually from Morrison's) in my petrol Santa Fe and in my previous diesel taerrano it always seems to make my engines smoother, quieter and marginally improves mpg been doing this for over 50 years.

Well i'm giving 2 stroke oil a go just added about 250ml to just under 3/4 tank of fuel:augie We're hoping to get away camping on Monday so by the time we get back it should have started working it way through the system:thumb2 From what i've read 2T oil is supposed to help clean the injectors & glow plugs which can't be a bad thing

that sounds a lot.. i think i was putting 7ml to £10 worth of diesel.

it was some time ago now and tbh i forget the ratio but 250ml is a lot

think back im unsure what i put in but never 250ml in 1 go.. maybe i just did not buy enough diesel at any 1 time:)

i cut/paste this from the link. ratio is in there

The results of this research: any diesel additive of any manufacturer presently on the market is not worth the money!
BUT: 2-stroke oil, which we use in our motor saws, lawn mower or in 2-stroke motor engines has shown to have an extreme positive impact on diesel engines, if such 2-stroke oil is added to the diesel in a homoeophatic dosis of 1:200. In practical terms: 0,300 litre of 2-stroke oil into the 70l diesel tank. The 2-stroke oil will be absorbed by the diesel (emulsion) and grease every moving part of the high pressure pump and the injectors.

It has a 80L tank which will be getting topped up tomorrow so thought about 250ml would give me the 200-1 mix so I take it I got my maths totally wrong then:doh

Soooo, if I do a run to halfords before closing tonight I should out how much in? Ive got half a tank atm :nenau

Going off what was said in the link on the patrol forum you times the litres by 5 which will give you the mililitres you should add so a full tank of fuel (80L) would work out at 400ml if my maths is right but i've just added a lower does:augie

Ah right I'm with ya, times by 5 take off the 0 lol

Not quite 80L x 5 = 400L which translates to 400ml of 2 stroke oil for a full tank. Have a read through the link just incase i've worked it out wrong

I have this written down in the car.
20ltrs diesel 100ml oil
30ltrs diesel 150ml oil
40ltrs = 200ml
50ltrs = 250ml
And so on.
This is a ratio of 1/200.

:thumbs That's what I thought it worked out at few got it right for once:lol so i'm going to be running at a lower mix which might be aswell as i've got my MOT coming up but after that i'll see what it's like with something closer to the 1/200 ratio

Good call. I've yet to start adding oil. Just getting it as idiot proof add I can. One slip up and god knows what'd happen. :-S
