Battery Venting

Out of Interest most new batteries seem to have a vent plug at each end no matter what the casing size this I understand is to allow for universal fitment.

On my Merc the massive battery is in the boot fitted near the offside rear wing panel. From factory new there is one vent at the far end and a plug in the other end vent. It appears that new batteries have a plug at each end so that you can use the existing vent pipe at whichever end your vehicle has the breather tube.

On my BMW I did as others have suggested and used an aquarium air hose T piece to use both vents but am pretty sure this is an overkill on my part as the battery instructions said to remove both plugs so I did.

I have a merc E300 ( bought it for the engine :naughty ) and that has the battery inside the car under the back seat. It just uses one of the battery vent holes.
I'll take reasonable precautions , mind you I said that to her indoors and now we have 3 kids :lol

Battery end next . I'm hoping to find a suitable distribution plate thing up the scrappy, then I can wire in the power amps too :naughty
