We don't all have the luxury of an air con bracket free on the engine

I'm biding my time and trawl eBay every now and again for the higher powered one that they throw on the Elgrande (QD32) only :sly

I have a search set up on there. Only seen 1 second hand one in 6 months and they were asking almost as much as the new ones. Not only that, but they wanted exchange unit as well, when the picture showed what was clearly a dirty just removed unit.

I know mate, if you do find one we'll probably end up in a bidding war against each other for it

If my alternator should pack up, Suz says I can buy a new Elgrand one to replace it. I got all excited when mine stopped charging after our off roading weekend, but it turned out to be mud on the drive belt and cleared up when I cleaned the engine bay.... so close.... lol

Aircon bracket with belt adjuster came from CNCFABS as did the Alt, his prices are AOK
I can now charge my leisure battery without fear of overloading my original alt

You can find CNCFABS on Facebook 'its free'

All done now including bracing bracket to stop it moving on shut down.

2nd battery now shows 14.7 with engine running never went over 13.8 with just one alt.

I have used that for the 12 volts to the lamp to make the 2nd alt kick in, this seems to work well BUT I am a little concerned this may cause a problem.

on my off road motor, I simply stole the low fuel light, means a bit of soldering on the back of the instrument cluster but straight forward enough, Rick

What are the benefits of fitting another alternator then?
:)

if you need/want to run two batteries then it becomes important, I run a pair of winches from my second battery and so do not want to compromise starting and running ability when drawing large currents when winching but then when I go out I expect to spend a lot of time powering the winch, Rick

update,

conduit is cheaper than an engine bay fire
I forgot to put up the picture of the fan belt box so you can see the size 850mm.
The camera is on my Nexus 5 phone, I am running an app called A better Camera, built in bells and whistles including auto flash
Belt box, the make is Gates, off the shelf at my local motor factor less than a tenner
All in all this project cost less than £75, I already had the battery and fuzebox

The google photo trick is to view the picture full size [at photos.google.com] right click it [normal window pane pops up] and select 'copy image location' then paste this into the picture icon on message editor [looks like a mountain] the icon is called 'insert image' Lot less mucking around than photobucket, which does not auto upload all my phone pictures

Not another UPDATE

I can't see the light with bonnet shut it is tucked into the battery box. When I start the engine it blinks on/off then 14.7 volts show on the voltmeter gadget near old ashtray. I did not want to run another pair of wires to the cabin, as the wire from the original alt was near the battery and gives 12+ Volts with engine running it seems too simple.
The alternator bracket will be made of steel and the joint welded as soon as I get some, ali was all I had to hand

personally I cant see the pics and getting google to let me look at them is a pain
I use photobucket and it does upload automatically . Either as soon as you take the pic or I have it set to do it only when on wifi.
So simple to link to then :D
That said, this is a good project mate and one that should be a workshop download.
Banshee are you looking ? Bat21 ?

I have given up on photobucket it takes around 5 mins for every picture, it will only upload from folders it chooses but does not let me know what folder that is
Sorry if it is a pain for some who do not use google, why is it not possible to upload more than one picture at a time, why do we have to use other software. Perhaps in future I will do one page at a time
If those who do it let me know the correct format for a workshop I will do one

I have read the link
My photos are not on my PC they are on my phone which sends them to google
To get them to Photobucket I have to download them from Google then save them then send them to photobucket, too much of a pain
If photobucket had instruction to auto upload them from my phone like Google does then no problem but it dosent work for me.
If anyone knows how please send me a script and I will put the photobucket app back on my phone, a Nexus 5 running Android 6 and try again.

The only way I can be related to Rick is if his dad knew my mum in the summer of 1938:naughty

Looks like the Photbucket site will upload the photos directly from your phone much as Google currently does. I would suggest that you need to change something in settings that allows you to upload from Photobucket and not Google.
