Blown head gasket and probably cracked head, so a non-runner.

Has got a new turbo still under warranty, new radiator, new belt tensioner & belt, new battery. Recon clutch & transfer box, pads all changed, synthetic bushes, ball joints replaced in May for MOT, towbar, NO SIDESTEPS. All electrics work. 1 x keyfob with a new fob casing but 'open' button not working

General Grabber AT's on original alloys in good condition. Bodywork is alright but not brilliant - definitely seen some use!

Not a bad motor if it weren't for the knackered head. I've enjoyed it for the last few months

Selling for someone to take as scrap or take for spares/repair. Located in Bracknell, Berkshire

Make me an offer otherwise local scrappy can collect it

Dont scrap it get the head done might be lucky just gasket then its I good truck.

It's going. Too disheartened to carry on with it, despite how much I've loved it over the few months I've had it.

It would make a great repair project for someone, just not me.

Alternatively, stacks of parts and spares for a breaker to make a nice profit :)

Sorry to hear that but I understand once you lose faith that's it :(

What you going to replace it with?

Undecided as yet. Need the cash from this one going, but I'm looking around for a replacement. Won't be a 3.0 Sport that's for sure! :lol

2.7 is bomb proof mate

Mine has 155k up it and uses no oil, it's quiet as sewing machine, no smoke whatsoever !

Mine too - 19 years old, 148,000 on the clock, goes like stink, uses no oil, does 27-29 to the gallon around town and has just had the first repair in ages (transfer box oil seal, done by a local garage near Malaga, cost including a complete oil fill as the box was empty, just under £58!)

Further to the above, as it's a pre-intercooler T2 it has almost no electricals to go wrong, no maf, no crank position sensor, in fact it's simply the most reliable car I've ever owned!

I know this might be a silly question, but could you not drop a 2.7 lump in to that body, or are there too many differences?

An early one with mechanical pump would be pretty straight forward

Nissan 1st on Welshpool do these swaps regular into navaras

I'll go along with that, my Mav Mk I (T2 in disguise) had mine over 18 1/2 years from new.
Certainly the best car I have ever owned.:thumb2:thumb2

It is always a shame to see a Terrano go to the scrap heap, especially one as late as Cupcakes.

There have been quite a few issues on here regarding the 3.0 litre engine in the Terrano, from my experience and what I have learnt on this site, the most reliable engine is the old 2.7 Td, then maybe the 2.4 Petrol :nenau, then the 2.7 Tdi then the 3.0 litre diesel.

I am willing to change my mind on the positioning of the 2.4 Petrol though, is it second or third in the line up?

Certainly not first, as it has problems with the timing chain tensioner.

There was me, nearly 19 years ago... will it be a disco? or a Frontera, Terrano, or the Maverick?

The Maverick won hands down over the Terrano, as the interior was quite plain, and all grey.:augie
The Disco came bottom of the list, as I was stopped by another driver of a Disco, who realised I was on a test drive and said he had no end of problems with his disco, third one he was driving after many break downs. Frontera, was quite nice inside and very car like, but the Mav was better.

I really made the right choice.:thumb2:thumb2

Well young Smurf is now sold to Mr cncfabs who will be taking him away on Saturday. Was totally gutted the other day, now I just feel relief. Looking forward to the next 4x4 now - hubby conceded at me getting rid of Smurf, that was enuff to keep him happy :) lol

Budget not massive, but enough to get something half decent I hope. Not sure what yet tho...
