Just thought I would mention that today (which started at 11am and finished at 4pm, with a break for half an hour) that I refitted the wheels to the off road motor including sorting the seized rear brakes, then while I still have winch wiring problems I had to sort no hand brake on my road going motor, so swapped them over on the hoist, so sorted the HB prob and decided to do a full service, engine oil and filter done, checked all levels, gear box took half a ltr, greased both prop shafts, sorted missing clamp on exhaust, had a good look round under, saw a few small items that will do tomorrow, so the upshot of all this is how easy it was without laying on my back, wish I had invested in this a long time ago, sorry but pics tomorrow, Rick

Awesome, I can imagine this must make it so much easier, and give you a better chance to have a good look too

Hey Rick

How about I drive down to pay you a visit and finally meet you

I could commission you to take a look at my transfer box guide as I can't get it into 4L :(

Have you done a body lift on it yet? if so that could be the problem.
Also.. you probably know, but you have to push the 4x4 lever downwards first then back to get into 4 low

Rick... if I was retooling up from the start, then a lift like yours would be ideal for me, plenty of years to recover and justify the cost.

I'm doing an oil change and replacing the front brake pads on the Picasso later this morning... not too bad, as trolley jack each side, but you have to have enough clearance underneath to remove the stupid under cover:doh.. then support it on axle stands. I wish I had your lift...
Hopefully with the lift, you can "raise" some extra cash to do extra jobs for people.

Now here is a thought... when you have done Terrano clutches in the past, you normally remove the engine, but now you have the lift, will you now consider removing the gearbox instead...?

Body lift is a good one, mine only just goes into 4L low, we had to er... Give it some stick :augie

You are welcome to pop in any time if I am about, that applies to any other members as well, Rick

Interesting points, re taking on a bit of work then yes why not, it makes a change from building, re removing box for clutch change, if it was to remove the box completely then I would require a strong purpose made hydraulic cradle on wheels, bit of a project that, however I am told that it is possible to slide the box back far enough on the torsion bars, I will be looking at this method to see if it it feasible, if not then engine out every time, if only because with the block and tackle I have full control of the heavy bit, box out from under is much more difficult without the proper kit, Rick

While it was on the lift found an exhaust bracket missing, and the tail pipe was starting to go, so replaced that with one that was hanging on the wall, replaced the 6 bolts that hold the tow bar to the chassis as they were rusty, in fact had to cut one off with the disc cutter, nice shinny 8.8 bolts, just got to get 4 now for the tow ball, anyway this is a pic of the front diff level plug

And a broader view of my shop, it still needs a fair bit of sorting, but getting there, pulling those plugs with a three foot knuckle bar was easy, by the way Clive (Lazy Ferret) I stand corrected the rear diff breather terminates in rear chassis some place, took it of and blew through it and it is somewhere on the near side higher up, well sounds it anyway, Rick
