This worries me immensely as we both have the same year truck so I wonder if I will have the issues too, what do I need to look for

On the steering box itself you have an indentation for a bolt, this bolt goes through (sideways) the steering column and ensures that the column cannot work its way off the splines, if you do it up off of that, it will start working its way looose.

What we found at my work when we went to put it back on, is that it would not reach atall. We therefore had to find a way to extend it, rather than buy a new lower column/joint we decided to extend the upper part that comes out of the bulk head. Lenghten the bolts and apply more nuts to bulk it out.

Ideally as it only has one rubber, the techs here say another 2 rubbers would be nice as they must be there for flex purposes or similar. But it has held nicely so far and endured some heavy heavy offroading :thumb2

in theory there should be no more pressure on the rubber on the steering shaft as the uj on the bottom will change its angle to suit the lift.
the steering shaft set up looks identical across all the years.

It's the length that is my only concern, not a big one as I have done nothing about it.
As I couldn't get enough movement on the splines to compensate for the lift so the rubber is stretched running out by about 5 mm? Which could cause premature failure (I'll address it one day)
