I've used the search (I should being a mod) I just wanted some fresh answers as I'm not sure if we've discovered a cleaner easier way to address some of the problems caused by the lift

I want to do a 2" lift, I'm sure that someone on the forum was making the kits? I'd rather invest in a set of these and keep the development going internally to the forum than buy a kit off the shelf if you know what I mean.

If I do have to get a kit off the shelf, where's the best place to get one?

I know Milners stock them;

I'm sure Xpajun did some as well but I can't find those now?

The two main questions In wanted to ask were;
Bumpers - Do I need to fabricate new brackets to re-attach them after the left so that I'm not left with a gap?
Gear Stick and Transfer Lever - Do I need to do any trimming for 2" ?

I want to get this done as soon as I get my modulars powder coated and my BFGoodrich's fitted :clap

Come on guys share the wealth :sly

Never done a body lift on either of mine but what I have noticed is you have more clearance behind the 4WD selector to centre console on the later models than the earlier ones due to the console being different so there shouldn't be any probs selecting 4L:augie the gear sticks will be lower so in time if you don't like it you might want to fit an extension to the levers but it's the 4WD selector I feel will be the main one

Right, I used the Xpajun kit, nice kit, about £70 odd quid. :thumb2

My bumpers had to be chopped slightly as the holes had moved but yours being plastic may be different (dont forget mine are scaffold poles) :lol

with regards to the gearsticks I got away with mine although its alot closer than eltys and steves. it looks like mine lives in 4th gear now (just the angle) and 4wd low only just goes in (but does fine) :thumbs

Pah... you didn't search very hard....

This thread is just the latest to give details on the Xpajun kit.

Full link to their web page http://xpajun.com/product_info.php?cPath=70_71_72&products_id=211

And Elty001 did this very good and clear write up with all the info you are asking, answered... Including Pictures....

I spent most of last night going through all the "Body Lift" threads, before I do mine, and as I posted in my thread on the lift, there are a lot that just fizzle out, with out proper answers, including what happened to the very good write up that used to be in the downloads section!!!!

I had to do a bit of trimming for the transfer lever to engage 4 L but mine is an auto and it was only the plate that holds the gaitor which it was fouling on.
also fitted an extender on the transfer lever as I had visions of my fingers getting bit when I put it into 4L.

Did you make the extender, if so, do you know what the threads were?

I got away with out any trimming for the gearstick and 4wd selector on my mk3 and as for the bumpers I cut the brackets vertically and welded the front 2 inches lower to lift the bumper, this actually put it a bit close to the grille and wings so the rear after cutting them I rewelded them 1 3/4 inch and it looked as it should, that was using an xpajun kit.
A word of warning tho, having removed the bolts I jacked the body up on the sill, not a wise move the sill needed a fair bit of welding after that!

And as pointed out to me and I haven't rectified this yet but although the steering column was released to allow for movement, the donut on the column by the bulkhead is under strain so could do with a few spacers to get it straight again.

Actually yes, we extended this at my work, the easiest bit to extend seems to be at the rubber donut, longer bolts and extra nuts is a nice temp fix, but ideally the techs at my work would like an extra 2 donuts, I have already found one :thumb2

well yes, elty and steve didnt run into this issue, I did though.. and my steering column came off the box on a roundabout :eek:

we manged to just get it on the splines but it would not reach the safety bit on the splined bit. so work had to "improvise"

I have a thread on here somewhere with the pic
