Why put sunflower oil in it when it costs more than derv at the moment. If you can't buy it at less than £1.20/litre don't waste your time. David

I have to agree though, I wouldn't pay £120 a litre, not with fuel prices as they are (around £1.35 around here) and the special journey to the 'cash an carry' to get oil. Simply not worth it.

Its still around £1.45 :eek:here in sunny devon

Chance would have it I was passing a tesco today so popped in as I don't have a local one and they had rapeseed oil on a deal until today (I think)

98p a Litre :clap

Cleared the shelf and got 20L.

They also have normal priced one (don't think it was rapeseed oil) for £10 for 10 Litres, Should of checked

I am pretty sure that if you go and read the cheapest oil on morrisons which is there own branded Veg oil. The back says that the product is made from 100% pure rapeseed oil..

What about putting white spirit in during colder months ?..

Also i have about 100 barrels of used engine oil here and that always starts a great fire.. Mixed with diesel would it work ??

If you're going to go for this on new clean oil, get a costco card or similar as they sell the oil in 20L containers that cuts down on the bottles rattling around in the boot! And it's usually cheaper too.

sillysaus, if you're going to try waste motor oil, you are opening yourself up to a world of pain! HMRC might well be interested as well unless you pay up the fuel duty as that's mineral based oils. For blending and using motor oil, see: http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=77 as this section s all about this, one guy in the states has been doing loads of experiments and regularly pulls his injectors to swap/clean out.

The main forum there deals with the three main ways of burning veg oil, SVO - Straight Veg Oil, clean new stuff straight from the shops. WVO - Waste Veg Oil, manky stuff from the local takeaway, filtered and dewatered before use, and Biodiesel - making fuel that's more like diesel from either of the above. More information there than you could shake a stick at. Enjoy!

Took me ages to get the balls to try veggie, but now don't look back, daren't in case I get hungry:eek::sly, but really, I havnt noticed any difference in running, and I use the ktc stuff from Costco at £18.49 inc vat, can't forget that:sly,

I understand how you feel, I wasn't sure, but just do as I did, get a 20ltr drum and just chuck 2x10ltrs in and go from there, just build up what you feel comfortable with till you get up to 100% :sly

You dont get VAT on cooking oil,:doh

thing is morrions stuff is usually too expensive.

i'd pay £1.05 ish max for veg oil

check a local tesco if you have one.

Whoop Whoop. 80 Lts of SVO on its way from Makro. Cost £80
80 Lts of diesel would of been £109.60 saving me almost £30 (Or an extra 30 Lts free)

I have found all super markets 'vegetable oil' say 100% rape seed oil on the back of the label, I have used Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tescos. Odd but if you look for 'Rape seed oil' on the front of the label it cost twice as much :nenau

From bookers I pay £1.05 a litre for rape seed in 20 l drums. But I have used KTC modded soya and found no difference in the way the car ran.
