I'm running ktc veggie from Costco, quite a few on here are, mines fine done over 1,000 miles now, only thing I got advised were,
Don't use over cold months:eek:
Change fuel filter after a few tankfulls:thumb2

I'm currently running 80/20 veggie/ diesel too

What year is your truck too, mines a 1997 2.7 t2:thumbs

the fuel filter change only refers to running on bio-diesel not SVO so don't worry about it! :thumb2

just pour it in the tank and off you go :thumb2

no itys only the 3.0 di that has problems running it

Why put sunflower oil in it when it costs more than derv at the moment. If you can't buy it at less than £1.20/litre don't waste your time. David

I use KTC its the cheapest , all down to price but best to know what you are putting in your tank as this stuff gells quicker than rapeseed oil below about 5 degrees.

I thought sunflower was the best oil for cookering but not for the car as it's calorific value is pretty high, resulting in a hotter engine.
It's also bonkers expensive too. Use the cheap stuff unless you're growing your own :lol

Took me ages to get the balls to try veggie, but now don't look back, daren't in case I get hungry:eek::sly, but really, I havnt noticed any difference in running, and I use the ktc stuff from Costco at £18.49 inc vat, can't forget that:sly,

I understand how you feel, I wasn't sure, but just do as I did, get a 20ltr drum and just chuck 2x10ltrs in and go from there, just build up what you feel comfortable with till you get up to 100% :sly

I like KFC

I'll get my coat:augie

But where do you get rapeseed from?

And is it same as veggie and just pour in?

Makro and the likes sell Rapeseed too, usually a little bit dearer that's all. I think 20L in Makro is about £21 just now, but Soya is just under £19. While it's this warm, both work just fine.

I did find that because it's thicker than diesel, any weakness in your fuel lines/filters will show up as the pump has to suck a bit harder. Cost sod all to replace the old metal fuel lines with braided PVC and fuel filters need to seal well (smear a bit of oil on the rubber seal before tightening on a new one.)

Also, change the engine oil and filter regularly as should any veg oil get past the pistons and mix with engine oil it'll make a jelly like vaseline :naughty which isn't too good at lubricating your engine. These old 2.7 blocks are quite happy burning anything they can suck in really!
