2.7 or 3.0litre

whats best a 2.7 or 3 .0 litre t2 and there seems to be lots of 3.0 litres around for sale but not many 2.7's . is it because to 2.7's can run veggie oil and the 3.0 litres cant .

Can only really speak about the 3.0 (it's what I have in my Trol :thumbs)...

3.0 has more power and better mpg BUT when Nissan first developed it for the Trol they made a hash of the engine design and there were major and terminal issues with them, engine had a bit of a re-design and consensus is that it was all solved by the time they popped them in in the Terranos (mid 2003 ish). Long as you don't muck about with the engine (like fitting large exhausts etc) you're fine but as a result some folk are wary of them so I imagine that's why there's a few more of them around :nenau

Also, I don't think the 3.0 will run on veg quite as easily as the 2.7 and the 3.0 has a timing chain as opposed to the gears on the 2.7 which might put folk off the 3.0 too.

i have had 2.7 and have had a 02. 3.0 for over a year solo i get 430mls to the tank thats from light comein on to light comein on. this one was a one owner serviced at nissan with fsh 72000mls paid £2900 and just passed mot we tow caravan at 1400kg and i load it up with me woodturning gear i be 71yrs old bin a H G V driver and like to keep in front of them f-- in trucks we use the A66 alot it does that i can keep it at 60mph all the way over sad but i love my terrano.

I can only suggest the 2.7 if you want to run on the cheap with veggie or bio ? Other wise go 3.0 as it's a smoother more modern engine and will respond well to ECU remap trickery I believe
