Went to the maverick this morning 1st time I've drove it for a while and the 1st and 2nd was really stupidly hard to get, really needed some force to get it in and you could feel the notches as it went in.. after a few minutes of driving all was fine. So I suppose once it's warmed up all's ok..

Now I know for sure that the right grade of oil is in there. Because when I first changed the oil I did put the wrong stuff in it   and then 1st and 2nd was hard to get, that was in the summer, but with the right oil in (75W90 GL-4 ?) it was fine..

Anybody else have trouble in the cold with the gears?
Can I put an even thinner oil in or would that just be to thin and not do it's job right?

Has the weather got colder today where you are?
You could put the same grade in, but use synthetic or semi-synthetic oil; this will be a more constant viscosity when cold and hot, so shouldn’t be so thick on cold mornings.

The other half told me it's been like it for a while

it is semi-synthetic comma oil..

Mine too only started as the cold weather has come in

stiff gears

ive been told its because they are a splash feed gearbox so until the oil warms up they can be a bit stiff when cold.i run mine for 10 mins on cold mornings before i use it and it seems to make all the difference but if i just start it and drive it the first few gear changes are stiff then it eases off once warm.

p.s over fill the box slightly and this also helps.

Thanks from me -cheers- elty
Glad its not just mine doing it.
Will warm it up tomorrow befoe driving off
