Hi i have just fitted 2 new front wheel bearing in my Maverick i have been told that i need to leave a bit of play in them can someone please tell me how much play please?

Ermmm..... none.

They should be ideally set up with a small preload on them, as per service manual.

One increment is enough to take it from a bit of play to no play, so do it 1step at a time.

No they should not have any play, the bearings are tapered thrust type and many have a pre-load, I have not looked it up in the manual but set mine to finger tight no play plus one hole on the lock ring, Rick
 
Thanks for the replys i will ajust them up tonight also i have winning noise from the o/s/r wheel i can only hear it with the drivers window down i think its the mud tyre on that wheel i have checked for play in the wheel and there is none?

Remove the drum, and check for oil leakage from the seal, it is usually an indication that the bearing is going.
Mine did this.

Re rear tyre, swap it for a front one to see. sorry, to hear....:lol

Also your rear diff oil might need changing, it is special LSD oil and needs changing every 30 k miles.
