Fan belts can do this, slowly pour a cup full of water over the belts whilst running, stand back...
If the noise goes, then you needn't worry about it.
Mine does this and I spray WD40 at the belts.
Some say... not a good idea, but I have had my Mav over 18 years and I only changed both belts once, the old ones, which are still ok, are kept in the jack area of the boot as spares.
Thanks rustic I kno the bearings are on the way out on the water pump so more than likely that I've not really had time to take a proper look and trace the noise
I have had that noise for a while now and was thinking clutch release bearing and over time the pedal has slowly started feeling weird and also clutch judder for a few months, so I thought I better get it sorted and then on Thursday night the centre part of the clutch decided to shear and took the crank sensor out and I then rolled to a halt and that was that.
New crank sensor and Luk clutch kit and now I am back in the game.
