i have had my old terrano parked up over a year now and it was mentioned to me i should scrap it while scape metal is high at the moment, what i want to know is what parts should i take off beforehand to ever sell on, is it worth it to take off the roof rails or not.

scrap it

are you nuts looks ok to me does it run?

paulp

yeah, whats up with it?? come on, tell!!

as for part, well, theres tons on there that will be of use, especially seats, sensors etc but i suppose it depends what is actually wrong with it...

if it is broken , you may be better selling it for spares/repair rather than just scrapping it , id guess you would recieve more money that way .

<falls about larfing hysterically> you bad boy you....!

i had a 1998 terrano sitting around with a smashed bonnet and a couple other niggle things for a while, i loved the look of the black terrano with blacked out windows until one day i was changing the thermostat and then notice under the alarm bracket the wheel arch was rotten so i just parked it up and took bull bars, exhaust and starter motor for the ride i'm in now. the only trouble i ever had was the gearbox which some maybe remember i changed with a 2004 12000k gearbox and uploaded step by step pics on changing it and proved that that you can fit a later model gearbox then the 96 to 98 recommended at the time lol.

being in northern ireland and especially in boggy fermanagh i thought selling parts would not interest people because of the pain of getting across the water and P&P (when i was hunting for a gearbox i seen for myself the ridiculous P&P) .

never thought of scrapping it until a mate said i could get about £300+ with the boot full of scrap so i thought it makes sense plus i have a army reunion in shrewsbury next month so plenty of beer chits without the misses nagging me raiding the biscuit tin lol.

i put it on gumtree and ebay, already got a few replys but there is one who said he buy it but on his last email i got this alarm bells started ringing, i will not be doing anything stupid until i have the money in my paypal account, my question is when i get confirmation of payment there is no way it can be reversed is there and no i will not be paying his agent before hand and lose money.

I was just about to make the payment when i had this little problem
with the picking up,I got an email from my agent..i taught i included
that in my previous email.he said he won't come and pick up the item
unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to
schedule a pick up time ,and my pick up agent head quarters is in
West Africa and all commission payments made for pick up, from
anywhere in the world is sent to their head quarters in West Africa and the
only form of payments they accept is western union money transfer and
i tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn't
bring along, and there is no post office(there is usually a western
union section in most post offices) or any western union agent
offshore! so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i
will include the 150 pounds they charged to pick it up and take it my home
(1st class treatment), to the payments i will send through paypal.
After i have made the payments and it has been confirmed by paypal, i
will need you to help me send the 150 pounds to my pick up agent through
western union money transfer, the western union money transfer can be
made at a post office near you, there is always a western union
agent in most post offices or online at www.westernunion.com.I
will be making the payments shortly and will email you as soon as it
has been done..

Any one who mentions africa or nigiria or western union in their transactions should be steered way clear of,nothing but a bunch of con artists :sly

Totally agree - even if you remove the money they just debit your registered credit card....that email is totally standard scam stuff from end to end.....

iceman, for what it's worth I wouldn't go near that supposed buyer with a 200 ft barge pole. Did you try any of the 4x4 breakers. Would think they would give you more than £ 300 for it.

thx for that as i always thought money in paypal then straight into my bank was safe enough, will try a 4x4 breakers tomorrow, had quite a bit of interest to my amazement.

Give us a few more details? Milage on the engine? What are tyres like? There is a few of us members on the site here from other similarly boggy parts of Ireland that might be looking for some parts.

i have it advertised and loads of calls but nobody come to view yet, i have another 4 days on ebay to honour then i'm going to strip some parts of it then scrap it, i will not be taken things like the gearbox off as its to big of a job which is a shame as it was a 2004 gearbox and new clutch fitted.

got a 2 miss calls this morning on my moby so rang back and it sounded like chalky white, he was asking still got the vehicle i said yes then he said he is back in Ghana and said he been emailing me about it last week, i quickly said sorry its gone and hanged up lol.

well i want the pigtail and bolts, at least not too big to post :lol
