Hello everyone.

I have a problem with a Maverick I co-own.
Starts fine, no issues. Drives fine, no issues. Will not accelerate past 2000 rpm!
It starts to splutter and smoke as if there is a lack of diesel or maybe too much!
It ticks over fine and most of the time it will rev up to 2000 rpm ok but it will not go past this point.
Things tried so far,
Removed air filter - no change
Replaced diesel pump - no change
Replaced diesel filter - no change

Any ideas:nenau

Please please help as its a great and very useful truck.

Cheers

Steve.

Check the MAF sensor, this is located just the engine side of the air filter. Try disconnecting it and see if it makes any difference. One or two people including me have been able to clean them. Basically they are a very fine piece of wire that the air flows over with a mesh grill in front of them. I used a switch contact cleaner spray called Servisol (Maplin's sell the stuff), spray the wire but do not touch it with anything. The mesh can be rubbed clean with a cloth and servisol. Not saying this is the problem but it has been known to cause problems.
There's also a mini fuel filter fitted to some of the vehicles, check out the downloads section in "quick links".

Mended!

Went to the cleaning of the mini filter instructions in the download section and did exactly as shown.
28p for a new copper washer later and a good cleaning of the mesh and she is running like a new truck:clap

I would recommend anyone with the older 2.7TD to clean this mini in line filter as it seems to work miracles.

Many Thanks to the people who wrote the articles in the download section.:thumbs

Cheers

Steve.
