I'm going to be replacing my road tyres soon so just wondering what AT tyres people are using on the later 17" rims & how they are/have found then on/off road:rolleyes: Yes I could down size to 15" rims & have loads of choice tyre wise but TBH I love the style of the 17" rims:augie

yeah they are nice looking wheels the 17's. There's a nice black one round here and they look good on the back door.

The worst thing about the 17's is the price of the tyres:doh Used to like the General Grabber AT2 but their not making them any more, been told the new Grabber AT's are ok but looking for some views on them or other makes before taking the plunge as it'll cost around £500 to replace all 4:doh

Yeh I'd be interested to know the answer to this as well. Love the 17"s but the price of ATs seems a lot higher than 15-16" and the range much more limited.

Is anyone a member on a land rover forum who could ask this question? I'm sure some of the disco td5s had 235/65/17s so here might be some good tips out there?

just go to 16" should atleast double the choice.

In time i'll prob get a set of 15 or 16" steel rims & fit mud tyres to them but for every day use & towing i'm wanting to stick with the 17's as I think they are the nicest alloy Nissan fitted to the Terrano

Hey bud, I'm using General Grabber AT's - very happy with them :thumb2

Tread pattern looks a bit unconventional but they've so far not let me down whether it's been snow, mud, sand or rock.

Fitted in March and managed the Wales laning weekend fine in July and my offroad lesson start of last month and plenty of tread still left despite doing around 9k since I bought the truck. At the offroad lesson I even managed to get up a slope the Landies hadn't been able to manage.

£500 for a set of four ? Bloody bargain :lol Over a grand for mine  and the size and make I actually lust over will set me back considerably more

Yeh really struggling to find a set of general use ATs for less than the 500quid mark. Doesn't make sense to change the wheels just because the tyres are more expensive, got to be some out there....the search continues....

Cheers mate:thumb2 Sound like they will do the job but know what you mean about the tread pattern

I put some Kingpin remoulds on the front of mine, picked them up from the factory just outside of Shrewsbury, cost me £120 for 2x 235 65 17. Also try John Craddock they have some nice Cooper 17" tyres for around the £100 mark.

That'll be the Cooper Discoverer AT3's like the look of the tread patern & they get great reviews but there does seem to be a hit & miss issue with balancing them as some just won't balance up:doh

The Cooper Discoverer AT3's get good reviews & are £119 fitted local to me but going to ring around to see how much the general Grabbers AT's are going to cost as they also get good reviews. Should save a little bit on the disposal charge they charge as i'll be wanting my old tyres back as they still have 5mm of tread on them so will be selling them off:thumbs

Would those be the same as the Avon AT3's my local tyre place has offered me?

Nope just had a look on Avon's site they do an AT 60% road 40% off road (looks like the cooper ATR) & the ATT 50/50%

I read somewhere that Cooper had taken over Avon, but I have to say, I could not find any AT3's when I looked.

The Avons were only a few quid cheaper than the BFGs, and the same price as the Generals, so in the absence of any great reviews on the Avons (There were lots of good road reviews, but off road were a bit wishy washy), and having had experience of both Generals, and BFG's in the past, I have just taken the plunge and ordered the BFG's... OUCH...

Looking forward to the snow now...:lol

Just got a price of £121 each for the Grabber AT's & £102 for the Cooper AT3's now just got to try & make up my mind which ones to get:doh ringing up on Monday to get a price on BFG AT if they are about the same price as the Grabber i'll be tempted:augie

Well I'm going to take the plunge & go for the Cooper AT3's after reading a lot of reviews on them all say fantastic on road that's a plus as hopefully getting a caravan next year & off road they come out better than a lot mixed bag when it comes to mud tho but rockier ground is another plus
