Yep, don't have a pressure washer but will have a go tomorrow...cheers

Ah, right, that's where I drain the oil then. It's black stuff that's leaking, just need to find out where now.

Ok, but what am I looking at? It's a sump, but for what?
  4. eminox

Yeah, was thinking about bleeding first, see if it has any effect. It could be the engine sump! It's behind the front axle, and then there's a chassis member and it sits in front of that. Took some pics, looks like it's been leaking when travelling. Any ideas?

Yep, after much deliberation I've gone for the 2002 3.0 SVE, Ocean Blue, £3500 plus £144 for the MOT (front anti roll bushy things, headlight beam position, labour etc) which aint too bad me thinks. He did say that the brake and fuel lines are corroded, but ok at the moment....any ideas anyone...

    Hi all

Yep, that's what I plan to do, see what needs doing to get it through the MOT then do a real good going over.
  7. eminox

    Hi all

Nope, it's the inline 4, SVE model. I know it won't take veggie oil, but it's an 02 with 101k on the clock, new rear tyres for £3500, mot next month mind, but as long as it's sound mechanically then it's a good deal as far as I can make out.
  8. eminox

    Hi all

Ok, 3.0 won't be looked at until tomorrow now, but it's got 101k on the clock for a 2002 model, should I be worried?

What does it do exactly? Is it a little balck box of electronics or something? Sorry, I know mechanically stuff about cars, old ones anyway, but still have alot to learn.

I know, very tempting but the thing is I might be able to do a straight swap for the 2002 3.0 ltr one as the dealer said he could get rid no probs....as it is (remebering I'm possibly looking at between £800 to £1200 repair for the gearbox), which to me is an easy way to change vehicles without...

Yep, going to see one Friday, fingers crossed :) I completely agree clivvy, it's an age old marketing ploy, build systems etc into a product where if it goes wrong the end user cannot repair it but has no option to take it to the main company to find out whats wrong and repair. That's why I'd...

Well, the gearbox has beaten them all to it...lol The thing that annoys me is that there was a huge thing on BBC Watchdog about 18 months or so ago, people with 2.2 Direct petrols breaking down on the motorway etc, but Vauxhall still claim it's not 'their' fuel system that's at fault, they...

Well, everyone I speak to about them rates them fairly highly, there's enough info on here to keep the things maintained yourself and the way things are going, diy maintenance etc is becoming a necessity!

As some may have noticed I have an 05 Vectra estate, looking at changing it to a Terrano very soon! In the 2.5 years I've owned it it's been back to the stealers due to a petrol problem, the problem being that it doesn't like supermarket fuel! It's a repeating problem, breaks down now and then...
