    Hi, does anyone know if there should be rubber end stops fitted to the steering end stops? My tyres are rubbing on both full locks and the end stops either side appear nice and shiney as if rubber stops were once fitted to them. Have trawled thro' the manual but can find no info.:

    Think the test is only for the "new" 13pin socket used on trailers built after 2008.

    TDi injector pump

    light at the tunnel end Followed Leafy1 excellent detailed instructions and found that pump was about 15deg retarded. Was unable to the time pump within the adjustment slots so finally set up pump with correct lift then removed pump gear and turned engine back to TDC and re-fitted pump gear...

    Swapped my old pump across from my old engine when I fitted a replacement short engine and didn't note the pump timing, so know the pump will be out of sync. I was warned about possible air bubbles in fuel and found none as the fuel line had already been replaced. Many thanks for the timing...

    Turbo is fine had it re-con'd at the start of problems. Have turned injector pump about 1mm clockwise to advance it, now it won't start. Turned it back to original position and still will not start!!!! About to strip inlet manifold off, take the rad and preheaters out and do the damn job...

    Did the same but grey smoke when revved above 3K and hestiates above 2K. Been told it's running weak because the pump is not lifting enough ,so thought if I've got to do it, do it right! It will be a first when if happens! Someone with knowledge said turn the pump about 1mm to the right when...

    Hi to all, does anyone know what the injector pump setting should be for my 1998 2.7 TDi with a " fly by wire " Bosch pump is ? My workshop manual states a dial gauge reading of 0.38mm +/- 0.02mm at TDC but this is for the older cable type pump for the 100bhp engine. Is the setting the same?

    different cranks!

    Yes, when I bought the terrano the previous owner said that the AA had recovered him and said the head gasket had gone, so he must have known what to problem was as it was blowing oil out through the turbo and the turbo was OK or had been replaced! Thinking rather than stripping two engines down...

    Very low compression in cylinder2 and low in 3 caused I by badly scored bores, from I think previous turbo failure. Thinking about a re-bore of original engine but seems cheaper to get another engine than re-bore.

    Different Cranks Markings are TD27A HJ49021Y RM22695. Have no vehicle details as I think it's been unsed in a boat as flywheel and sump both modified. regards.

    Bought a another 2.7 diesel engine to replace my 1998 unit.However it's an earlier engine and as a different flywheel to mine. Is it possible to just swop the two cranks over or are there other differences ie so that my later crank is fitted into the older block?

    Known that the key fob had no effect. Looked at starter motor and found the supply faston was pulled off, must have been done removing the inlet manifold!! Now starting OK but the re-conditioned turbo is now blowing oil into the engine again, happy days !!!!

    Just replaced the headgasket on my 1998 2.7TDI and had the battery off for a week. The engine now appears to have an immobiliser problem as the engine will not turnover.Any idea's?
