Well spoke to the local transmission shop, he said about £450 for the rebuild but could be more due to the fact I have been driving it for a while with a noisy 5th bear and could have done more damage than just the worn bearing. I thought that was not too bad until he told me it would the same...

Thanks for the info Rick, been away for a few days in Paris so now back to sort things out, will be making a call to the local transission specialists this moring to see how much they will be charging for a rebuild, and then will asses do I rebuild or replace, so maybe back to get some details...

What's the best thing to do ? New box or repair ? Which is likely to be the lowest cost option ?

When you select 5th, it snatches in and makes a terrible noise although there is still drive, it has aalways made more noise than any other gear but now something is certainly wrong.

so the noise in 5th gear got much worse today and after 100miles I now cannot drive it in 5th gear, rest of the gears are ok. Has anyone had this problem repaired? or is it a new gearbox? what sort of cost will I be looking at?

The plastic rear light surrounds on my Terrano are a grey plastic material, I am not sure iof they are supposed to be grey or have just faded from black. I think they would look much better black so I tried some bumper black on them and it had no effect at all. So what colour are they supposed...

Started about 3 am in peterborough and still going although looks like the rain may be easing.

We live in Peterborough but are travelling up to Loch Ness on Thursday as we are getting married at Urqhart Castle on Saturday. Its around 10 hrs driving to get there so will be a good test for the truck.

Do you mean welds on the inside door skin? I will try tightening the botls and see if that helps, If off to Scotland on Thursday so hope the spare wheel does not fall off !

My back door has started squeaking on my Terrano, at high speed its not so noticable but its really annoying at low speed. I cant see anything obvous as to my its squeaking, even got the kids in the back while going at low speed to try and find the noise, but they have proven to be as useless as...

Tried a new green lane today which went straight across a fairway of a golf course. Not sure who was more shocked, me or the golfers as I drove across.

Well I changed the switch, prayed while I put the wheel back on, and then did stated her up, yes the light went out. How pleased am I, will take the kids out on some green lanes now to celebrate.

Will try that this morning then and see if it puts the light out.
