well thats a relief at least, didnt want to do all the work on it and then get rid cos engine gone. just strikes me as very peculiar and a coincidence indeed that that its only been like that since coming back from the garage,

warmed it up and kept it at 3000 rpm....hasnt made a difference. if need to change the oil will do so but 2 questions that are in my head are: 1. with them being that loud has the engine been damaged 2. how can the tappet noise appear like that only and immediately after being in thwe garage...

i usually listen out for that sort of noise as tappets are a sign of wear. theres no way ive missed it with the fan noise, so my question is how the f... does it come back from the garage making that noise when it didnt exist the previous day????

thats what i thought. have checked oil, its down but half full....would say fair enough, but before went into the arage, the only noise was from belt...i dont understand how all of a sudden that can appear from having y belts done??

i dont think it woule be dielil knock, and would be seriously worried if it was...as its a 2.4 petrol!

aha, well hope thats not the case altho wouldnt be suprised...had a part fixed on my probe, and they broke something getting it off....which I had to pay for!! hate garages...and this was was reccommended by my neihbour! flaming phone, would have uplaoded by now if i knew how to use it or even...

hi all, can someone fill me in before i go mental. if youd read my previous post, i had a belt noise that didnt change. took it into the garage before ordering waterpump parts ect and they said just the belt.... .......so all they did was replace the 2 belts.....ok fine great. picked it up...

good advice, as paid for rear shocks that never existed at next mot once

hopefully if parts dont take too long to arrive can actually go adventuring in it before time runs out lol

ahh fiddly job then, will have to kowtow to mr garageman then as cant afford to get immersed in difficult engine repair as got to ready house for baby arrival in cpl months.

cheers rick, will sort that out as its worth it. do you know if its worth replacing the belts at the same time? with the belt on the water pump looking a little slanty and black bits on the fan would think better safe than sorry? any idea how difficult it is to do? was going to ask local garage...

will do thanks, i know all about import duty - ordered a digi dash to convert my probe, paid the $100 postage, then customs slapped an extra $120 on it - and as the wires didnt come with it its still in a box!! ebay u.s i presume?
