Thanks, I thought at first when I saw the colour of the oil that I had a major problem, I'll change after a 1000miles with comma lsd.

not sure, I'd rather let the proper oil do the work, a bit more expensive but it should get rid of the sludge. I keep changing until sludge has gone and lsd is hopefully working

Thanks, I can see that, the disco never had lsd diff so I had not thought about the clutches. The oil I drained out looked to me like it had molyslip or some graphite based product. although I went for a 15 mile spin and did not notice any more noise on new oil

auto oil change done, just for future use, I got 4.9 litres out and drained it hot. sump drain plug head is 19mm, but the thread is 13mm approx, so dont overtighten. I used nissan atf and a new crush washer. running fine and seems a bit smother although that could be me.

Hi Everyone, I'm going to change my auto gearbox oil tomorrow, took some of the old stuff out with a syringe and plastic tube and it looked dark to medium brown instead of red. Has anyone any tips.Also I cant find a torque setting for the drain plug. Thanks:eek::eek:

Sorry for long delay been on my hols, Yes I changed the oil and filter using Nisan oil and filter, I think its electrical as it is a very faint glimmer. the oil light comes on full brightness with ignition only

My Owners manual says 10w 30w above -20c, however nissan now recomend 10w 40w for my car, I dont know if the year makes a diference

Thanks I feel a bit happier now although it seems poor that such an important switch is a known problem. I could live with most other fault lights but oil pressure has a high priority on my scarred to death of expensive repairs list.

Thanks, Paul. It was very stressfull, no one needs a blown up engine. I hope its the switch. no other warning lights on.
