    Help

Sounds like air getting into your fuel pipes. I believe they can break down enough to allow an air leak without allowing a fuel leak :nenau

some interesting big trucks for sale

On second look, there is a Haglund job on there with a hiab trailer that would do :naughty

some interesting big trucks for sale

Always fancied the REME version of the FV432 with the crane on the back for timber recovery, absolute piece of pee to drive. Disappointed not to see one there

    Hello and gearbox replacement

Never done a swap on one of these but whenever I have done the clutch on previous cars I owned, I found making a timber cradle to put the gearbox on top of the trolley jack really helped. :thumb2

    Winter woes/Dirty Diesel??

Got a similar situation with mine re driveability but not symptoms, suspecting the mini-filter (if my Tdi has one) but can't do a lot about it at the moment. Just got to adapt my driving until I can do something about it.

Shame Lord Denning is no more :naughty

    Unbelievable....

Given that the powers that be always claim that speed cameras and the like are not there with the aim of catching the speeding motorist but with the aim of preventing speeding, surely he was actually aiding the police officer in the carrying out of his duty.

    what do you think

Made my blood run cold. I use vehicles and winches a lot to do assisted fells and I was nearly shouting at the screen. Very nearly a prime example of Darwinism in action :banghead  :banghead

    thermostat ?

Surprisingly little, Briggie. A bit of old towel will catch it all when you undo the bolts, 12mm socket. Cold engine! :thumb2

    I never have

    thermostat ?

Just squeeze the pipes to make sure there is no air trapped in there. Also lets you know the stat is opening as the hose will be warm. Make sure the engine is off though!
  17. felixthelogchopper

    thermostat ?

I've never done all that when I do a stat. I always make sure I work the water through the pipes well before I run it up to shift any air about but then perhaps I have just been lucky.
  18. felixthelogchopper

    thermostat ?

You can normally get away with moving the pipes aside and easing it out like that but you still need to look out for airlocks. I've always gone with the maxim, if I don't fancy the look of a job, step back and have a longer look. Isn't there another member up there who can sit with you while you...
  19. felixthelogchopper

    thermostat ?

Why would he? For a start, it probably won't fit if it is wrong so if you can't get the housing back together then don't force it. Temperature wise, run it all up afterwards so you can check for leaks and watch your temp guage for any problems. I think you should read up on doing it before you...

    thermostat ?

No wonder you have a leak elsewhere! Mate, once you break the seal on a gasket you need to replace it. Wait until you have the kit to do it properly and then reseal it either with a paper gasket or some instant gasket paste like Hermetite, preferably both. At a push, you can get rid of the old...
