    Roof rails

Well I dcided to bite the bullet and bought a tool from e-bay, will fit up to M8 size so should do the job nicely. I'll get these fitted when I come back from france after easter.

    road tax

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/consumer/article.html?in_article_id=432978&in_page_id=5 I'm not sure what will happen to pre 2001 vehicles, as I don't think they had officially recorded CO2 emissions, therefore couldn't be suitably classified. sooner we loose the scots from running england, the...

oil changes, additives and K&N filters all to gain MPG

I can usually get 25 mpg round town without trying, and 30+mpg on a run - up to 32 mpg, that is the best I've ever had on one or two occasions. MPG is much better when on road tyres than mud terrains. I suppose some of it is the vehicle, some the driver, but in your case I'd also wonder terrain...

oil changes, additives and K&N filters all to gain MPG

I've just replaced the run off pipes again on my 2001 wagon - last did them in October :( IMHO the rubber that is used is just too prone to cracking probably through heat, especially in the position that they are in, tucked away under the intercooler and next to the pipework leading to the...

    Roof rails

HB, did you get the e-mail I sent to you about the rivnut tool? I'm thinking that I'll need M8 inserts & bolts to secure these bars - will get hold of an M8 bolt and see if it will go through the holes in the mounting points.

    Roof rails

I always feel a bit of a tool replying to my own posts, but I've just found this info http://www.x-eng.co.uk/rivnut.asp on t'interweb that suggests the process of rivnut insertion can be undertaken without the (expensive) tool. If anyone has used rivnuts, can you give me an idea if you think...

    Roof rails

I've been looking for a set of roof rails for a couple of year now. Got let down by an ebayer earlier this year - sold a set of clamp on roof bars to me as roof rails, needed trading standards to be involved to get a refund. So far the seller has still not collected the incorrect parts, but in...

oil changes, additives and K&N filters all to gain MPG

Scorpions are a good quality tyre, road biased but then that is what you need if you want to try & get the best MPG from it. Got a feeling that Nissan fitted Pirelli Scorpions at some points as standard, I got my Terrano when it was 3 1/2 years old and the spare was an unused scorpion.

    X Trail Parcel Shelf

Using my Terrano as an example, I've got half leather seats in back with red highlights; the rest of the interior trim (plastic & carpets & boot cover) is brown, except the top of the dash. My wife's X-trail has a grey interior, I've not really looked at the leather seated cars, but if the door...

    north wales

I've driven a few lanes around the Llangollen area - some very nice lanes there. Also done some in Snowdonia, however its a bit more sensitive in the national park, due to access & ramblers. Drop me a line, and I can pass you some grid refs for some of the classics. Will still need to be...

    Terrano Dash Board

I tried to fit a kit like this in a car a few years ago (not a Terrano) and found no amount of solvent could clean the surface enough to allow the kit to stick sufficiently.

    Cooking Oil

Good point plank, but while 10p per litre doesn't seem that much cheaper, over a year it will add up to a substantial saving - I fill about 3 times per month, 60 litres per go, so £6 per fill, or £18 per month (based on current fuel prices) at the current ratio of 80:20. Increase the ratio of...

Got my new wheels and tyres on!

Is that size similar to 31 x 10.50 R15? I know that the standard 235/75 R15 is similar to a 30x9.50 R15. When you say it is 28mm higher, is that under the diff, to the wheel arch??? I'm looking at new tyres, and don't know whether to go with a bigger 15 inch tyre, or fit a bigger tyre (maybe...

    Cooking Oil

Last night the temp was down to 3.6 degree's, and the wagon started first time in the morning when the temp was a slightly better 5 degrees. My estimation is that as well as the 6 litres of veggie oil, I put 18 litres of diesel in as well, when the vehicle was onto its warning light, and had...

THOUGHT I WOULD PUT THIS AS A STICKY BUT!!!!

Some of the alcohol wipes in first aid kits will also have an antiseptic and emollient in them, the "proper" alco-wipes that are used before blood taking are better. But I've never really managed to get an original rear view miror to stick again, on the cars I've had with this problem...

    Cooking Oil

Well, bit the bullet today to give this a go. Filled with 18 litres of dinodiesel, and added 6 litres of Tesco veggie oil (rapeseed) to the tank. Filled from near enough empty, so got a good idea that there would only have been a couple of litres left in the tank, to allow me to accurately judge...

    'welded' on wheel

Rotating wheels front & rear means that the tyres do all wear out together, and this keeps the tyre diameters constant pretty much front & rear - means less risk of transmission damage, and then means tyres are replaced as a set of 4. If by spinning a front tyre spun round, you mean the outside...

    'welded' on wheel

Loosen the wheel nuts & then drive the car - carefully & slowly, and the wheel will come loose. Got to be really careful on a rear axle as you won't get any real indication of the wheel beeing loose, just stop every 100 yards or so and check - an empty car park is best. Prevention is better...

    Cooking Oil

Possibly, as the 2500 litre allowance is a personal allowance as far I can understand; so 2 people using the vehicle would both be allowed up to 2500 litres each per year - bit like biodiesel production, a group od people can all use the same equipment, and make 2500 litres each, even though the...

HI LIFT JACK WARNING PLEASE READ

They are like all jacks, dangerous if used incorrectly, but unlike a bottle or trolley jack, where common sense dictates you don't get under the vehicle, the nature of hi-lift type jacks means their mechanical action can be pretty dangerous - not to mention that they are pretty unstable at the...
