    Intercooler failing

XT has been into Nissan today, a week short of its third birthday, and end of warranty, and the intercooler has been indetified as leaking (along with part of the sircon as a seperate problem). Thank god for warranties, garage says needs to be completed by end of work next tuesday to be done in...

    no, im not racist, yet

I saw a car today, St George Cross stickers on it, and a sticker reading "British Jobs for British Workers, time to strike back, what we mean, we say!!!!! BNP!!!" Very admirable I thought, until I realised that this very patriotic "english" man was driving a rather nice Toyota Hilux Surf...

smoky deisel resulting in soot on the caravan

Having washed the 'van at the weekend then anything that reduces the soot I'll go for! My 'van has been towed by T2 and X-trail since its last wash, so both sides were soot covered! I see Halfrauds have some chrome exhaust pipe "finishers" with a downward angle, and I've seen this tip on a...

    900cm Awning wanted

Well, we bit the bullet and went to Lowdhams yesterday and bought a Royal Harrison awning - ex demo, with fibreglass frame, and annexe for £545. Perhaps a bit more than we'd originally set out to spend, but decent second hand are few 7 far between in such a popular size, so we've spalshed out...

    New 4x4 tyre law

The noisiest 4x4 tyres ever created must have been the good (well, maybe not so good) old Goodyear Extra grips, as fitted to Army Landies in the 70's & 80's. Used to make a lovely howl on tarmac and were not that good (alledgedly) off road.

    Changing the rear LSD oil

The drain plus is under the axle housing, just to one side of the centre. Filler plug quite clearly on diff pan visible from rear of vehicle. I have a local place (Caldo oils) that sells most oils in 5 litre capacities for really good prices, I just used them when I was running the T2.

    900cm Awning wanted

The van is a Bailey Ranger 470/7, body is in the region of 4m 70cm or so. Thanks for the Duxbury info, might give them a go.

    900cm Awning wanted

Yeah, they do seem pretty good, just wondering if anyone out there has a second hand one on the go. Some decent ones on ebay, but none in 900cm & local enough to make it worthwhile.

    900cm Awning wanted

If anyone has a decent quality, good condition awning that they want to part with, size 10 (900cm) then give me a shout.

Nah, no fatboy XT's, Fat Face is another brand like the Columbia XT. What is the trim & equipment like?

Extended Warranty, Service and MOT - what Do I do????

We're in the same position, an 06 X-trail coming upto 3 years old, so we've looked at the warranty direct policies. The more basic policy is £16 per month, the more advanced around £25 pm. The basic does cover turbo internals & wastegate, and damage to casing if caused by internal failiures...

    Car Wash

We've used the places like Emo etc, where there is a decent, supervised carwash without problem.

Landy owner convicted of manslaughter of kids by defects

http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?t=33783&start=60&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= Long thread on Difflock about this. It cannot have been an easy decision to prosecute this man, in the same way the parent of the quad riding child who died last Christmas was prosecuted. Agree the...

good torch needed can you recomend one

While maglites are superb, we've got the little AA ones and a big six-cell jobbie, for what you describe (off road & dog walking) a good compromise would be a decent LED head torch, run time brilliant, the latest LED ones are really bright as well. If cost is no object look for Petzl, if cost is...

    Speedo problems

All I know is that my old T2 (also a 2001) had required a new speedo fitting at about 18k, seem to recall this is a bit of a regular on some of the later models.

    Cruise control

The X-Trail has cruise, and it is great for longer runs, especially on the continent and when towing, although on the XT it doesn't seem to help improve fuel consumption over manual throttle, whereas a citroen I had in the past with CC would always return better fuel consumption with CC. The...

    Tyre size Reduction!!

Apparently later vehicles with 15 inch rims were fitted with 7j r15's, meaning the 235/75 R15's were fitted, earlier ones came with 6x15's and these are too narrow for the 235's.

    RADIO RECEPTION

One problem which occurs is in terms of the aerial cable connection to the back of the head unit. On my wagon the wire to the centre pin of the connector had broken, meaning poor & patchy radio reception. The solution was just to run a replacement cabel from the aerial to the head unit, and...

    Quick question and tow balls

Yes, one of the extended neck jobbies, if you buy from a dealer get them to throw one in, it should be included with a new van anyway. If you're buying 2nd hand then I think Towsure do a patterm copy which is somewhat cheaper than the Alko branded one. Don't forget to remove the paint from...
