Need to identify a noise - please help

Hopefully will just be the turbo to IC hose - a new one should arrive in a few days (been away on hols so only just got back to it).

Need to identify a noise - please help

Just took the pipe off and measured both ends (Turbo/IC) properly - seems its 56mm straight (no taper) - can't edit the above so just thought i'd post a correction.

Need to identify a noise - please help

Hopefully tracked it down to the stub hose between the turbo and the intercooler - a bit tricky to find and in the end degreased everything and went for a laning trip. All i can see/feel is a very thin layer of oil on the previously degreased stub hose. So, i'll replace this first along with...

Need to identify a noise - please help

Thanks Rick - I did check for oil and couldn't see any on either the outside of the hoses or the joints but will take the intercooler off and see what the noses look like inside. I'm just about to go away on hols so it may take me a couple of weeks to check. Cheers.

Need to identify a noise - please help

I checked the hose clips on both sides of the intercooler (left and right), they are all tight - the little stub hoses look ok and not perished. I'll have a poke around again and see if i can spot anything. I did notice on the turbo side of the intercooler (little stub hose), there is jubilee...

Need to identify a noise - please help

Hi All, Any help would be great to identify what this is (hopefully not the turbo itself). At about 2500/2600 rpm and above (but only under engine load), i have a noise that is a bit like a noise half way between a metallic whistle/screech (hard to describe), more revs (over 2500) - a bit...

    Auto gearbox

I did mine last week, drained the sump and got approx 4 litres out. Refilled, went for a drive to mix the new with the old (in the torque convertor), then did the same again (but not a full second drain). So in the end used a little over 7 litres for an approx 2/3rd oil change.

    another busy weekend

Ahh, right - good to know for the future:thumb2 - i won't make that mistake again.

    another busy weekend

Also, i did one side at a time (i.e. shock still connected on the opposite side) rather than both sides together - maybe that would have made a difference?

    another busy weekend

Dunno if my original shocks had been replaced with LWB ones before i changed them, or if the SWB is different (the rear of the truck was actually quite high anyway) but they wouldn't come out on their own. I put moderate weight on the wheel hub, but I didn't fancy standing/jumping on it to force...

    another busy weekend

When i did my +2" shocks i still had to use spring compressors. Chassis jacked up high, both wheels off, ARB disconnected, Panhard disconnected, shocks disconnected and i still couldn't get the old springs off without compressing. (i hate spring compressors).

    My Terrano

Thought i'd better post an updated pic of the Terrano, its coming along but still loads of maintenance stuff to do. It was much muddier at the end of the day (also the white writing on the tyres is now mud coloured and a bit less "in your face").

Key fob lock button & programming

I have replaced both switches in one of the key fobs (soldered new ones on) and replaced the battery. This is the one i'm trying to use. Neither key fob had functioning buttons as the bit of plastic on the switches inside were kind of stuck - i still need to do the same on the other key fob...

Key fob lock button & programming

Mine does seem a bit strange. Looks like i need to take the door card off and have a look to see if anything has come loose as a first step.

    BIG hammer

I did my torsion bars last weekend, the first side just would not budge - had to resort to using a blowtorch to heat the bit the bar went into. The other side came out at the rear with a couple of light taps - not sure why the difference.
