    Box section sills ?

Thanks for the links everyone. TBH removing the vertical bit that the body mounts are welded on to (and re-welding the body mounts to the box section) sounds like a step to far for me to tackle plus my vertical inner sills actually seem ok. I think i need to ponder a bit more on this one.

    Box section sills ?

Yesterday i set about having a proper look at my sills and after some heavy poking decided that maybe i should consider replacing the sills with box section. Its only really one side at the back that has led me to consider this, the other side is actually not too bad and could be easily plated...

    welders

Thinnest I've used it on is 1mm so far with .6mm wire. Needs to be on the lowest setting for this, there are only 4 power settings rather than an adjustable knob. I actually found this better (as a novice) as it gave me less things to fiddle with and just focus on technique. You can still fiddle...

    welders

I've got one of the machine mart Clarke MIG 145 welders (same one as in the second link of the first post). I'm very much a beginner when it comes to welding but it seems to be OK in the 2 months i've had it (used it a reasonable amount with co2/argon mix gas). No problems using it on a 13Amp...

    Wastegate operation ??

The turbo to IC hose was from the following; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171093400780?var=470276319840&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Its the 57mm ID hump hose (cut down equally each side to the right length). The fit was OK, i would have liked it a bit tighter (possibly could...

    Wastegate operation ??

Found it was starting to open at about 10psi so i've placed a second spring on the lever to help. Now starts to open at about 12~13psi so i'll give that a go (when the IC has dried out from its clean) and see what its like (being very careful). Does this sound better than adjusting the rod...

    Wastegate operation ??

Just tried and its a bit difficult to grip, but if use a screwdriver to push the actual rod (using the adjusting nut as the screwdriver stop) - i can push the rod all the way in and hold it. Its not easy and there does seem to be a reasonable amount of resistance. Just thinking - could i stick...

    Wastegate operation ??

So, whilst looking for the source of a noise, i noticed that when revving the engine (in neutral - no actual load) - the waste gate actuator moves about 5mm. This only happens when quickly flooring the accelerator from idle and as soon as the revs rise to ~3.5K then letting off again - so just...

Need to identify a noise - please help

Forgot to say - don't think its the gearbox as i can get it to make the noise in neutral sat on the drive but i'll listen out for gearbox noises as well.

Need to identify a noise - please help

Small update on this. I replaced the turbo to IC hose and i think that has reduced the noise a bit but its still there. So, currently waiting for a new hose to arrive to do the other side (then at least its done). Also, cleaning out the intercooler <not too oily, just a thin film>. I did try...

    them up north

I could park back a bit and make it easier but that's missing the point of parking over a ditch :augie

    them up north

Most weekends, i transport the dogs to a local woods, the parking area has a bit of a 1+ft dip (sort of dry ditch, but not a ditch) where i choose to neatly drive the front wheels down then back up the other side. I can't go any further forward so i end up with the dip right in the middle of the...
