    Rear Brakes please help

You didn't state whether both of the pistons return in to the cylinder when gently pushed (use a screw driver if necessary but watch the seals and minimal force should be required). Have you had someone work the handbrake in the car while you watch the position of both handbrake lever arms on...

Thanks for the heads up. The GTX 15W40 is my brew of choice and to get both engine and veg oil from the same outlet will be a bonus :lol

    Steeringbox leak

Definitely wash it down and assess the leak yourself. If marginal and you think it will stay clean by the time you return to the test station for a re-test, then put a dab of scrap yard esque marking paint on it and give every securing nut and bolt a good clean then coat in copper grease as if...

    Steel Rims

Barrbeast, sorry to turn this in to a for sale thread! Mick, I'll take the 16's for the £75 cash for sure. I'm off the week starting 26th October and might try to incorporate a trip to see the folks which involves passing Carlisle, otherwise I can come down the A7 and stop by Langholme or...

    My new project started today

Wishing you the best of luck with this project. I'm a big fan of craft beers. Just settling in to a 'Northern Light', Orcadian beer. Keep the pics coming an do post up mail order details if it can be done by the case rather than cask!

    Snap On

Halfords Pro is good and the lifetime warranty is no problem at all if you keep the receipt. The 3/8" Torx sockets I bought outperformed the MAC tools equivalent of our apprentice ie he broke his on a car then I got the brake carrier off with my Halfords Pro socket!

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

To update this thread I finally got 'round to replacing the master cylinder tonight. Very easy job. 12mm deep socket for the 2 nuts holding the master to the bulkhead, 10mm spanner to remove the pipe from the end of the cylinder and 8mm spanner to bleed the master and slave. As suspected in the...

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

Already recently replaced hose, then 1 week later blanked damper pipe, and both made no difference to the problem I was having (some and not all gears hard to shift) as it is not related to air in the hydraulic system. I believe the problem I have with 1st being almost impossible to get in to...

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

Sound advice right there :clap Turned out to require adjustment on the master cylinder adjustment rod. It was at half way, it's now pretty much maxed out and working perfectly again! Looks like i'll be replacing the master shortly which isn't tears as it turns out as I can get a Pagid unit for...

    Clutch

Worst bit is blanking off the damper pipe. I reckoned it to be M14 and had absolutely nothing about when I fitted mine a few weeks ago. Went back under yesterday, cut the damper pipe just before the nut with a standard small copper pipe pipe cutter, recovered the nut and put a ball bearing in...

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

Believe it or not i'm having nearly the same problem! My problem gears are first and second with first being the worst. Goes in to gear fine with the engine off. Just changed the shifter bush this afternoon and it was nearly brand new. Just replaced a leaking clutch slave hose in the last...

    Traditionalist

The ones you're looking at buying are what I use on a regular basis for cars and my T2. They're a lot safer than the old pin ones you describe which have a smaller footprint and are consequently less stable if the ground isn't perfectly flat.

    Dastek unichip

Good enough reputation for me to want to buy it if you take it off!

    Birthday Treat.

Happy Birthday. Bought this one a while back and it can struggle to take stubborn wheel nuts off but is still very very useful. This would be my choice now given my experiences, and still good value for money. The torque ratings on these guns are ludicrous though. They get nowhere near what...

    Oh crap.

McGard will probably have you a replacement key within a week and you have the key number on that broken socket. Half the battle might be the wheelnut that's too tight if the key broke. There are many tools out there for removing locking wheelnuts, most of which we have in my workshop at work!

    Riding of the Marches Ceremonies

Your marches seem to be a considerably more sober event than ours although there's no (horse) riding to worry about up here as were a bit more north of the borders!

    another aircon question

You just stated the problem right there. How much gas was in the system before you re-filled it? How much gas did you put in? Was there the correct quantity of oil still present for the compressor and do you have a tracer dye in the system to pinpoint leaks? A proper re-gas for around the...
