What's best make of lower front ball joint

Firstline should read: 'First' in 'line' to fail. They are simply awful. We fit a lot at work which pains me as the rubber compound they use tends to perish and disintegrate within a couple of months! In the early days before I knew, I fitted Firstline stuff to my Movano van and was horrified...

    SPEED CHIPS PLUS for sale

P.S. It also takes a feed from the air flow meter as well as the injection pump so it's slightly more intelligent than the usual variable resistor.

    SPEED CHIPS PLUS for sale

I'm running the standard one and can vouch for the extra punch it gives the engine, very very good 'bang for buck'. I find if I run mine on much over 7 of 9 then it smokes under load like a Fiat Diesel :lol

    Dodgey M.O.T

People passing off dodgy MOT's are playing russian roulette. VOSA do random inspections and even present 'mystery shopper' cars with known defects to testing stations. I know this because we were subject to one recently!

    New thermostat, housing leaking

Would imagine it might be an M6 but that is purely a guess. Problem you have is that it might well need to be a M? x 1.25 for thread pitch as a lot of the bolts are fine rather than standard thread. For the price of a helicoil kit you might almost be worth getting a second hand thermostat...

What do you think of these !

The discontinued AT2's in stock 16" size are very good. I have a pair of these stashed in my shed built up on wheels ready for the snow. They were impressive in the snow last year in 2 wheel drive with them on the back. They also take serious provocation to make the arse end slide in the wet...

    H4 headlamp bulb options ?

Retrofitted HID systems are an MOT pass all day long. Read the text in the manual. Information column = "Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps MAY be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp levelling system. Method of inspection...

    H4 headlamp bulb options ?

Here is the link. I've bought about 6 of these kits over the years from this seller. Had one failure, the relay on one loom and it was replaced under warranty as stated, so can confirm this is a good and reputable seller. Fitment is pretty much as states. Plug and play.

    H4 headlamp bulb options ?

For potentially less than twice the price of uprated bulbs you could have an HID kit with high/dip dual bulbs...the kits were just over the £40 mark when I fitted them to all our vehicles in the last 2 years.

Massive clonk from the front of the t2

Had that problem with mine when I bought it. Turned out my relay rod had a paggered balljoint. It was the nearside one on the rod to be specific which was part of the rod itself.

    ABS Not working

Had you worked on mine before I got it? :lol Between the ABS light and the Airbag light, one was siliconed and the other had black insulation tape rolled up and stuffed down the tube :doh

    Milner Off Road

Made an order last week. Was ready with my PIN number but had no idea what my membership number was..... The lady at Milners looked down a list, gave me my membership number which I couldn't find anywhere on the forum by me providing my username, and didn't give a toss about the PIN number even...

    In tank fuel filter?

I did search this and out of the 14 pages I trawled through, the few posts I found seemed to suggest that there isn't an in tank fuel filter... Before I get elbow deep in Veg oil and petrol to find out! can anyone confirm if a TDI has an in tank lift pump with filter bag? or is the fuel drawn...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Ran out of time to edit. Last sentence should read: If you remove the tiny circlip from the wastegate actuation arm (it might crumble to pieces with corrosion!), then lift the wastegate actuator rod off the exhaust housing wastegate flap (penny) actuator arm then you should be able to move that...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Bump P.S. Grab yourself a Mityvac to test the wastegate actuation on the turbo. Never seen the penny actuation arm seize on a Garret T series and I've rebuilt a few. They normally go the other way and develop slight wear in the bore causing a tiny leak of exhaust gases. They're only really...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

What timing tool set are you looking at or have you already bought one? Saw Laser 1870 and Sealey VSE2242 and wondered if they definitely fit?

    failed the MOT

You might want to remind him of Reason for Rejection, Point 2 on this page, extracted straight from the manual. "Any deliberate modification, excessive corrosion, damage, cracks or inadequate repair of a load bearing body or chassis member which seriously affects its strength within 30cm of the...

Update on rear brake binding ???

Funny you should mention wheel bearing, I was starting to ponder that. I would expect you could feel play if it was that bad. The rear wheels are tough to turn so detecting a roughness or whine in the bearing spinning the wheel by hand would be very difficult. Can you hear any whine on a...

    Rear Brakes please help

To eliminate the flexi just clamp if off and give it a drive. You've ruled out most other possibilities. Good idea stated above on the rear axle movement. Also check the handbrake cable mounting point on the chassis, arcascomp's sheared off at one end once the spot welds corroded through!
