Give us a wave and a flash

Sorry Guys, If she is an Essex Girl she would be in a Porsche Cayenne. Audi or Range Rover, not a Nissan :(

Give us a wave and a flash

While a good idea as a friendly gesture, I wouldn't advise doing that in Essex. There are hundreds of Terranos and quite a few Patrols, XTrails and Pathfinders, all used for the school runs. Flashing a car full of school kids will get you in serious trouble. :augie

changing steel wheels for alloy - nuts?

As it seems both Terranos and Patrols are often supplied as new with 4 alloys and a spare steel, I would assume the fixing bolts / nuts would all be the same for the either of original wheels. :thumb2 Of course, if the wheel is not a standard Nissan part for that vehicle, then the fixings could...

    Short or Long snorkel?

As the point of a snorkel is to keep the water out, I guess the most important part is making sure every joint is completely watertight? This would lead to having as few joints as possible and making sure they can't vibrate to break the seal. Also the top fitting needs to stop the water being...

    Demise of a Patrol

I was completely stunned. I thought they were almost indestructible. I had left some stuff in the car and expected it back in a week or so. :doh It took me weeks to get my stuff back as the car was sold to a breaker in the midlands before I was even told it had been written off. I must admit...

    Demise of a Patrol

It was written off 5th Dec 2006 and at that time it was taxed until Feb 2007. Looks like the tax was re-claimed and the car almost immediately re-taxed for 6 months.:nenau Someone must have bought it and used it on the road in the bent condition for a while and then scrapped it. :doh

    Demise of a Patrol

I suspect you are right. I often look out for it and the colour was unusual but haven't seen it yet. :)

    Again-again

I love this forum.:lol Stay on a technical subject, all helpful and agreement. :thumb2 Get onto something subjective - 15 members and 20 strongly held opinions :D:D Ian btw, I suggested road tyres were best for road use and yet I am sitting on BFG A/T's and would only change them for bigger...

    Demise of a Patrol

I was flicking through some old pictures and came across these from 2006. I had a new Patrol as a company car and had only had it about 6 months when 4 kids in a little Toyota drove into the side at a crossroads. While their car was totalled, the Patrol only had a crushed front bumper as it was...

    Again-again

My opinion, for what it is worth - always buy the tyres for the job you are going to do. If you are going to be on the road, and particularly if you are towing, get tyres that are going to give the best performance and grip on the road. I know the Patrol, and possibly the Terrano used to come as...

    brutal weekend offroad.

I am very jealous of the scenery and also of the availability of parts for the Nissans. Every time I find something I want for the 'Trol it is on your side of the world. :o Oh what it must be like to live somewhere where 4x4 is not automatically associated with Landrovers! :clap Ian

    Increase Patrol Wheelbase

There are often times when I could do with another couple of feet front to back. I am always amazed at what I try and get inside or on the roof. A cage with 2 dogs takes up all of the current boot space. :augie -5 would just give a 15mm increase, which I guess might just stay just within the...

    Increase Patrol Wheelbase

Regarding the offset, I have been told the standard alloys are +10, ie 10mm inwards of center. The steel wheels which seem to be offered by several places are -32. This would move the wheel out by 42mm (1 5/8" in old money) which seems a lot. Has anyone done this and is it OK? Ian

    Increase Patrol Wheelbase

OK, I will go with track, there was not enough space to put "increase the distance the wheels stick out each side!" in the title.:) Do spacers put more load on the bearings than offset wheels? or if it is the same amount, will it will cause the same additional stress? Regarding the tread...

    Increase Patrol Wheelbase

I want to increase the wheelbase on my Patrol. As far as I can see, I have the option of using spacers on the original wheels or replacing them with new wheels with a negative offset. First question is, which is better and are there any problems with either option? Second question, how much can...

Gaah! Won't be fitting my springs this weekend

I'm not going to even try this at home. Booked in to have the professionals fit a 4" OME set. Scary cost, but they know all the associated bits that need checking and changing. If it helps, the standard heights as it is at the moment are: F/O/S 760, F/N/S 760, R/O/S 755 & R/N/S 765. That is...
