    Aurora borealis calling

It's not mandatory by law, actually kind of the opposite. In some bigger towns like Oslo you need to pay a certain fee to use stud tires. In north Norway you are allowed to have winter tires 15/10 to 1/5. But for vehicles under 3,5 tons it's your responsibility to make sure you drive safely. Not...

Yes, used to work there as a snowmobile guide for some years ago!

    Aurora borealis calling

Only time I think you might need snow chains is if you happen to miss the road or when trying to find a camp spot in the bush. Maybe some steep hills as well but have no experience in that. I always have stud tires ;) The snow chains shall be on the drive wheels but during 4wd then maybe front...

    Aurora borealis calling

Okej, February should be good. It's a cold month but the colder the better for aurora spotting! (It's usually less clouds when cold). If you have good M+S tires (stud less) then you will be ok during this month due to the cold. Less risk for wet ice and such but be careful, the sea don't freeze...

    Aurora borealis calling

Nice, it's wonderful up there, are you driving trough Norway all the way? When will you travel? Consider witch tires you've got, roads in Norway can get really slippery with "wet ice" and plenty of sharp turns with just a cliff straight into the sea! Stud tires are to recommend. These so called...

    Sweden - Gambia

Long day it was.. 8h of work. Removal - Inspection - Running around town scavenging for parts - Installation. Couldn't get the right oilseal so leak will still remain. Ordered some seals before but they didn't fit. Same type but too big. At least I now know that it doesn't look too bad inside. A...

    Sweden - Gambia

Okay thanks for the info Rick! I have booked a 4 post car lift today for 6 hours. I'm hoping to be able to remove the diff, inspect it and mount it back again during that time. A bit nervous, if I fail there will be no car to drive home in the evening haha. Pictures will be posted!

Ok I see, not as easy as I thought... Seems like if I have three options. 1st, just forget about the diff issue and live with it as long as it works (keep on filling oil in it). 2nd, go for a new diff and hope that the ratio is the same, or hope for my boss to be in a good mood when I ask to...

I was just thinking if I can remove the diff while I try to inspect/repair it and continue to drive the car while the diff is taken off? I'm trying to sell my other car atm so this is the one and only!

    Sweden - Gambia

I still haven't had the time to remove the diff. Been traveling back and forth to south of Sweden, a journey of about 2000miles so I know the car better now, at least on the tarmac! It runs great so most off my worries are gone. What do I need to remove to convert it into a 2wd for the time...

    Slipping Autobox

That's some good info there Macabethiel, thanks! I will sort out the level and see what happens. It does really feel like it's slipping, it can't get the gear in so it starts to jump and then I simply need to release the accelerator and the gear will slip in. If I can't sort the problem out I...

    Slipping Autobox

My autobox slips when accelerating hard! Doesn't matter if I'm overtaking or just need some speed in a road crossing. Seems to happen in any gear but mostly when the car is cold. (Happens when it's warm also but seems to be more rare). The ATF oil looks OK, it's red and doesn't smell burnt but...

    x trail shall I ???

I think if you like to do repairs on your own, the xtrail ain't a car to go for. That's probably why so few people attend any forums owning one? To much electronics and most is computerised.. That's why I went for the Terrano!

    Sensor

Bringing this thread back to life as I can't find any answers! The only thing that would make sense is that it's a temp. sensor but is it? :nenau And in that case, I wonder why Nissan choose to fix it to the back instead of front! Had my spare wheel off and noticed it that's why.

    Sweden - Gambia

That's what I'm afraid of, hopefully this weekend I will manage to bring it down. As for other threads on this forum it seems like it might or might not be possible to fit a diff from a earlier model? A bit confused on this subject. Winter will soon come here and during that time I will not move...

    Sweden - Gambia

Well now to something less important but every little progress is still progress! The holders for the sidesteps are now sandblasted and powdercoated, this one is smoking hot directly from the oven :naughty Does anyone have an idea of the best way to make the sidesteps nice and shiny again?
