    Oil consumption

today the truck is visiting the mechanic (i'd like to check the turbo before the holidays). yesterday i changed the heater hoses because they were very old. removing the intercooler i noticed some oil inside (quite a bit indeed, it was dropping out keeping it vertical) and i'm way more sure that...

    Heater stuck on hot

here in Italy it's hot as hell in summer, and to improve the efficiency of the ac unit, we use to place a ball valve on one (or both) of the hoses that feed the heat exchanger. this could be suitable for your problem too.

    silent

It's a hard time for forums in general.. social interaction is changed and it's become faster than a forum. people usually ask questions on facebook (or similar) expecting almost real time answers. I definitely prefer forums: you have an archive of information and you can browse back in the...

    Oil consumption

you're right Rick: in fact as soon as i noticed the low temp I checked and didn't find the stat in place. of course I bought it immediately. Yeah, the logic is that! it's not a solution of course, but just a way to try to reduce the consumption while waiting for the repairing. the mechanic...

    Oil consumption

i've made the same considerations.. the engine i hope has never been overheated: the previous owner was driving without thermostat, so the working temerature were a bit lower than usual. the turbo has been checked by the mechanic and he said he didn't see any issue or leakage. valve sealings...

    Oil consumption

hi all (basically.. hi Rick!) a couple of updates.. the truck is actually consuming oil: i was misreading the oil level. i took the truck to a mechanic that confirmed the oil consumption. at the end of the season i'll leave the truck at his garage to check piston rings, head and the turbo...

    Oil consumption

for the oil cap, i noticed that it keeps turning while screwing it in. maybe the thread is damaged either on the cap or the tube, but at first sight it seems ok. i need to check for some alternatives: the original cap is out of stock

    Oil consumption

After 2000km across Sardinia, checking the oil level, i didn't notice any oil consumption. quite strange indeed.. I only noticed that the loading cap isn't sealing correctly: some oil vapor leaks when the engine is running. i think i'll have to change it.

    Oil consumption

i've been a dork not checking the oil level after the service.. but damn.. a bit of trust! of course i don't know if it was full when i took it home, i was just assuming it.. today i'm leaving for Sardinia for a week, i'm changing oil and filter as soon as i come back home. thanks Rick for...

    Oil consumption

you're definitely right. i didn't expect the oil level dropping so much in just 6000km since the oil change. The light just blinked as soon as moved the truck from my parking, and i immediately stopped. I'll change oil and filter for sure, but most importantly i'd like to understand why the oil...

    Oil consumption

Hi mates! how are you all? i'm here asking for some advice about the oil consumption of my truck.. i've been riding for 6000km more or less, always on road since we're using the truck as an holiday car. yesterday the low oil pressure light started turning on, i checked the oil stick and i...

1997 Terrano 2.7 TDi engine problem

no problem for the pump shaft position: Pump gear is timed with the camshaft, not with the crankshaft. but why are you replacing the pump instead of getting it overhauled? or are you replacing it with a overhauled unit?

    New Highway Code Effective Saturday

i'm glad to give 2m of free space passing the cyclists. 2m from the FIRST on the right (driving on the right side, in italy)! anyone in that 2 meters shouldn't be there, so.. :nenau:sly

    New Highway Code Effective Saturday

different country, same problems, as i can see! i guess cyclists share the same mentality everywhere, riding abreast instead of inline..

    Engine mounts

thanks Rick! just enough to remove weight from the mounts. where can i place the jack under the engine to be sure I'll not damage anything lifting? everything will be fiddly, as i don't have a car lift and i'll have to operate lied under the truck!

    Engine mounts

Hi guys! I'm slowly getting rid of all little noises and vibrations inside the cabin. i've almost fixed all rattling plastics, but it's always a 20 years old truck! I'd like to change the 20 y/o engine mounts. they don't seem to be broken, but it's hard to tell just with a visual inspection...

    Door locks problems

Mate, today i did the work! easiest as i expected, to be honest.. i made a hole near the blade of the old key so i could push out the transponder with a pin. everything works! thanks a lor!!

    Blower motor noisy

hi mates! i reply to this old thread because i've the same problem: on left turns (and lately also going straight) the blower squeakes like a monkey. i guess it sould be the bearings, what do you think? and most important: i don't have to remove the whole cockpit to reach the blower right?! it...
