    FT’s Patrol Project

Never expected to say this but it is nice to be eating aircraft food again at 37.000ft. On our way to Larnaca at just under 574mph due to a 78mph tailwind. Here we are flying over Hungary with Budapest (LHBP) at our 10 o’clock at 120 nautical miles.

    The black curl 3.0 commercial

Looking good! :thumb2 More rust then you expected?

Latest bit of kit I decided to make

Those are good cycle times Rick. Even at 20 seconds for full height that will be quicker then a hydraulic machine of the same dimensions. A hydraulic machine has more control but I rather like your setup.

Latest bit of kit I decided to make

How long does one cycle take? It does show that it doesn’t have to be pretty to be effective. Hardly costs any money and does the same job as a £2k+ shop bought log splitter.

Same here, watching with interest! :thumb2

End of the road on the 15th Sept 2021

Whilst I understand your reasoning, it is still a shame to see you go. Look after yourself and good luck with the restoration. :thumb2 Cheers Colin.

    MOT apprehension

Hopefully this is of some help. :D

    JCB Starter motor.

If you are looking for a comparison, the starter motor P/N 714/36700. Not sure what a T2 starter motor commands but an aftermarket JCB one is anywhere between £60 and £150. Not sure what genuine costs as I didn’t enquire. This one cost me £120 but after I ordered I saw a company selling the...

    JCB Starter motor.

New starter motor did the trick, she burst straight into life. Switched solenoids over and the old starter worked with the new solenoid. Now the search is on for a replacement solenoid so that the old starter motor can be used as a spare. At least another problem is sorted. :thumb2

    JCB Starter motor.

New starter motor arrived today but have been going up and down to the vets today. Tomorrow is a new and hopefully better day.

    Crank case pressure

Fingers crossed for this time. :thumbs I found that the biggest issue with honing cylinders is that the wear on the 3 pronged honer is not even. The top of the stone can wear faster/slower compared to the bottom of the stone, hence creating a piston bore that doesn’t have the same shape all...

    Crank case pressure

Yes, you are right. The compression figures seem to sit in the middle. Of course a bore that is close to the limit will always leak a bit more compared to a brand new bore. Why did the rings wear out so quickly? From your post I assume that it was honed a bit agricultural shall we say? Or did...

    JCB Starter motor.

Removed the starter motor today but no joy whilst bench testing. Ordered a new one today for delivery tomorrow. Once it comes in I will swap solenoids to see if I can locate the problem. Hopefully fix the old one and use that for spares.

    Crank case pressure

In your previous post you mention that the block was just within limits as it had been previously honed. Does that mean that it is just in limits after the second hone? Have you checked the bore for roundness? As they normally become egg shaped in the direction of piston throw.

    Crank case pressure

Did you de-glaze the piston bores before fitting the new piston rings?

    JCB Starter motor.

Made access a little bit easier just before the weather closed in.

    JCB Starter motor.

The back end, need to remove a few bits to make some space. You can barely make out the starter motor.

    JCB Starter motor.

The starter motor on my JCB mini digger has been playing up lately. Before, it may have taken a couple of times trying to start before it engages but today it just stopped all together. When turning the key you can hear the starter engage but it just won’t spin. I started to remove the starter...

Sorry to hear Zac. :(. It doesn’t sound very likely that she will grace our streets anytime soon. :o
