Yes the problem was sorted before it was fitted in the T2. Nissan never admitted to exactly what the problem was. As said earlier some say it was to do with the turbo over boosting. There was problems with some in the UK as everywhere else. New engines fitted by Nissan under warranty. :)

Just done mine with a combination of schutz with waxoyl, because I had it and dinitrol for the box sections. All sprayed on with a comp using underseal gun. Have a look here http://www.rust.co.uk/ There are loads of sites with info. :D

Try Partco. I've had piston rings etc from them in the past, not for a T2. Don't know if they still sell rings etc. They used to have new rings for worn serviceable engines, you can also get stepped top rings so the new ring doesn't hit the wear ridge at the top of the bore. I'm not telling...

Thing I couldn't get my head round on my new van. Its got ATC trailer control and the Alko Stabilizer. Thought the ATC was to do away with the need for the stabilizer?? Haven't got a problem with the handle and spare wheel on the Patrol. :)
