Late Mk1 Square Headlight T2 for sale

Having just agreed to buy Kishada's T2, mine is now up for grabs if anyone is interested. Chances are she's worth more in bits than as a whole, but I'd rather see her stay running if possible. I'll get some pics posted soon, it's a 1996 LWB metalic green Mk1 SE with 146,000 on the clock, but...

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Surely, that will only tell me that the coolant is being pressurised, which I know already, bubbles in the expansion tank tell me that and I can keep the condom for better uses! :naughty :augie

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Sadly my friend, you seem to be right. Have replaced the 'stat, dropped in a bottle of K-seal and replaced the rad cap and still she's pumping excess into the expansion bottle, though the top pipes aren't getting so pressurised now as they were so I guess the rad cap was wearing thin too. So...

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Well, fingers crossed I owe Banshee and Terrano Bob a few beers! Fitted a new stat today and lobbed in a bottle of K-Seal for good measure. Jacked up the front, heaters on full and ran her with the rad cap off to get all the air out. Warmed up to usual reading on the gauge and stopped bubbling...

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

When the duff 'stat was in, I would get quite obvious bubbles coming through. Since removing the 'stat I've not driven far, but I could see the water swirling about in the tank (it's quite overfull now) so I'm fairly sure the system is still getting pressurised.

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Care to expand? that something to add to coolant like radseal?

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Thermostat has definitely failed shut, but would appear to be getting pressure in the coolant even without a thermostat in the housing. Presumably, no stat would mean it'll take longer to warm up, but otherwise be as usual? Where is the temp sensor used for the gauge on the mk1 T2? Last run...

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Yeah, sadly I think you're all correct - will need to find a suitable place to test her out. Interesingly, last night I chucked some of her maj's excessively axed diesel in the tank and this morning she started fine with no white smoke. Decided to lave her and take the wife's motor instead...

    Coolant issues, head gasket gone??

Gentlemen and ladies, It's been a while since I've been on here, combination of ridiculous amount of work recently and the peace of mind having such a reliable old gal of a truck. How are you all doing? Sadly, I think my T2's having a dig at me right now for the lack of TLC over the past few...

    PLANK

Geez, not been on here for a while, had my head down at work too much - now Plank's gone. Totally saddening news, never met him, but chatted by PM a number of times and I enjoyed both his books. Selfishly, I really hope the third one can be finished off later on. Anyone who hasn't bought a...

    No power :-(

Hmmm, cheapo MAF's have caused issues before haven't they? Wasn't there a link many moons ago for using the same MAF from a Primera at a much lower cost? or have my grey cells been scrambled? More reason to stick to my MAFless MK1!

    Cheap LWB patrol

I really fancy one of those, just know it'll cost loads to get road worthy and I still like my ol T2 (don't want the old girl getting in a huff with me!)

    Cheap LWB patrol

Tempting, but I guess there's a few more little items need fixing than just the front bumper at that price!

    No power :-(

I assume you've checked to see if there's a pesky mini filter lurking in the IP somewhere?

    fuel filter primer

Yep, gotta face the facts, veg is just plain thicker than diesel, roughly 20% petrol (depending on the type of veg oil being used) will bring down to about the same viscosity. Given the IP can cope pretty well with cold diesel during the winter, it copes with the thicker veg in summer just as...

Buggered fuel primer on filter housing? Getting sucked down when you accelerate.

    Mud,Wash,Truckwash,WD40,Oil Leak

Watch out for the sills rotting from the inside, take out the plastic protectors in the door steps and inject some serious wax product in there as the sunroof drains run into these. Mine had rotted through front and back, inner and outer cause Nissan put the drain holes an inch or two short of...
