    Newbie Saying Hi

Hopefully it should go:augie:naughty. There is a lo ratio gear I think. When you put it in low gear everything is halved so in 5th gear you will have top speed of only 30ish. Ist gear in low is so slow you can walk quicker. Hi gear 4wd can be engaged whilst on the move, whilst low gear 4wd can...

    Newbie Saying Hi

On a road you should not really use 4wd or you will get 'wind up'. This can damage the transmission, though in my experience it does not if you dont turn quickly. When I test drove my T2 i simply put it in 4wd and drove off slowly on the dealer's tarmac and turned the steering wheel. If there...

    air mass sensor

I had a bit of a prob with my MAF. I needed to tow the caravan that day, so I removed the connector wire from the MAF and hey presto, the truck went out of limp mode and I was able to tow the caravan 110 miles. There was a slight reduction in power but a big decrease in fuel economy. All...

    Newbie Saying Hi

I have a T2 not a trol so cant really help and you should take my advice with a pinch of salt. But nissans tend to have rust probs, so check the sills/chassis for rust. And since these are part time 4wd check that the 4wd is working correctly. Regards Lee

Knocking full lock front passenger wheel

steering stops as said above. I bought one set of caps and they lasted 4 weeks. Best to grease the stops themselves (i do it about every6 months) and forget the caps. Regards Lee

    heater, puddles and windows

Check the rear door - mine still leaks and is a bugger to solve. Re: garages - my T2 broke down on hols last year - took it to a fella in Articlave who done a good job and didnt charge the earth. Cant remember the name but if you ask at the petrol station in the village they all know him...

    new to here!

the 2.7 engine is bullet proof:clap, so really very little goes wrong except the MAF. They are prone to rust so i got mine waxoyled. The drop links and bushes seem to go, though it is only pounds to fix. Very reliable car. Regards Lee and welcome to the site

    Gross Weight Question

my LWB is 1950Kg as per our local weigh bridge. If yours is anywhere near that weight then you can pull nearly any single axle caravan, though twins might be a problem. Edited to add that you are limited to a gross train weight of 3500Kg, though this area is still very grey and some police may...

    Intermittent power loss

Hi Daniel If you go to a local small filling station to fill up it may well have solidified deisel. The composition of deisel changes depending on the season. Summer deisel is only effective to -5 or -15 - cant quite remember. In the winter they change the fraction and put in additive to stop...

    T2 in 4H on semi-gritted roads?

going over hard ground for short distances in a straight line will definitely not put you in any bother. Basically look at the road ahead - when it looks slippy it is and pull into 4wd on the move, when the road looks ok then slip it back into 2wd - well thats what I do anyway. I basically keep...

    Bad water leek

Only my amateur thought but it could be water pump or rad or hoses. Rad and hoses should be easy enough to check. Water pump can be funny - depending on where in its cycle it is, when stopped there might be no leak or water gushing out of it.
